We had power out for five days due to storm. Now 532 freezer is fine but frig has problem. Compressor appears ok and frig cools but can not adjust temp in frig. sometime to cool and some time to hot. I turned system off and waited untill frig hot before turning back on. frig cooled to 30 degrees.
help!
You might have a few problems,, make sure to check the condensor is clean, also make sure the condensor fan motor is going... you might have a bad Condensor fan motor, and Ref Control or a Freon Leak @ the Evaporator... I would call a tech to check it out...

If there is no cooling at all on the fridge section but the freezer works then it is confirmed thatthe compressor and gas pressure is OK. Now shut off the fridge and leave it powered off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within. Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours. Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge. However if ice forms in the freezer then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked. Frost formation without defrosting could block the air flow and so shut the air passage to the fridge. Also the blower fan must work and if this is not working then the fan can be faulty. Also a fault on the control unit is a suspect to non functioning of any one of these components. If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters. So try this test using a multi-meter on the defrost timer and the thermostat and make your observations so that we come to the solution.
i coud not see the model # of your sub zero . some models like th 550 / 650 use 2 compresors . freezer system maybe ok when fresh food is not . . first thing to do is ck the cond coil up on top and clean it and mk cure the fan is cooling the coil . you moy have a cold control failure . and the fresh food comp may be low on gas . these are the most common cause for your problem .. mm feed back pls ..
nope you have 2 compressor 1 for the fridge one for the freezer. is like 2 complete diferent units. we recomend the set point in number 5. is arond 37 degrees
There are two door switches one for fan and the other for the lights. With the compressor running, there are two so yu need to make sure it is the refrigerator and not the freezer, open the door and press the right switch and listen for a fan. The left should be your light switch and the problem is generally in the switch, on rare occasions there is a failure of bi-metal safety switch part number 4200850. One very rare occasions you may have a wiring proble. If you go to www.subzero.com there is a showroom locator tab on the top right corner, click it and you will go to a locator page which will get you to your local parts didtributor.
First do the simple things like cleaning the condensor coils and turning the defrost timer a few times, also check the evaporator motor or just listen to the fan by opening the freezer door. Also check the light switch, make sure it turns the light off every time you close the door.
Simple think I guess - just pull down a little a plastic fan blade on motor shift it will produce a powerful air flow. Fan blade should sit pretty close to the shift end. ;)
get into diagnostic mode by pressing and holding either colder key, then pressing on/off. You can use the colder key to scroll through 5 reading labeled fe, re, f, and r look at the re temp. is it higher than 38? if it is you probably have a freon leak in the evaporater refridgerator (call sub zero...they will completely pay for this issue, even past the 5 year warranty) If the temp reads really low (like 10 on re or something) you probably have a bad fan or fan switch in the fridge portion. this unit has seperate compressors and freon for the fridge and freezer..hence the lack of problems in the freezer. hope this helps!
