Hi,
I had to remove the mechanical block in order to check the sensors in my EV-S7000 VCR. I am trying to put them back together. Even though I have a poor copy of the service manual still have problem with three parts:
Part# 3-954-007-01 LEVER SLIDE PLATE DRIVING.
Part# 3-953-973-01 ARM PENDULUM COMPULSION
The last part is a small plastic part with a spring attached to it, I can’t recognize the part with my bad quality copy.
I appreciate any help you can give me to reinstall these parts.
Thanks.
Hello friend,
As you provide a vote on each expert contributing to your answer you will no longer be able to see any comments they make additionally and individually.
I repaired VCRs and the CAMs also, we all mostly stopped doing this as VCRs first became disposable and are not obsolete.
Be very very careful handling the spring. It is engineered to provided a specific amount of tension. Any mishandling and this spring could alter that value and it will diverge from the engineer's design.
Assembling the parts is one thing, frankly. Then you have to apply Timing to the tape path. This is where springs connected to parts apply tension so the tape does not lag or exceed the drum speed. Otherwise the mechanism will eat tape or break tape; one or the other.
You have the email address for WelcomeJee. You may rely on him to assist you.
The ONLY reason I am posting this here to you is to suggest to you that Welcome Jee is fully capable of helping you get this assembled correctly and timed correctly.
This problem of yours is difficult enough to deal with on our benches. Since you will be assisted by email only its going to be hard to impossible and I want to encourage you to stick with Jee to see this through to the end.
Sadly, for the ten dollars you paid, but can get refunded or not even charged unless you gtive an expert a Fixed vote, WE would only earn six dollars. We all work in our fields for fees many many times higher fees than this. We ARE here to help though because we WANT to help people. It is not about the money. And should you want to send Jee money, should this all get finished satisfactorily in the long run, you would be getting him in trouble I believe. You would have to ask for dispensation from FixYa to give him money, even a tip... for helping.
I just wanted to point these things out as you have given everyone a vote so far. Allow Jee to help you via email. I believe our Community Manager will understand the circumstances here.
The very best of luck to you and please don't give up until its Fixed, we won't.

Worldvet

Alright, being Sony guy, I can help you to assemble Hi-8 mechanism of EV-S7000
Please post few snaps of mechanism to understand me the situation and mechanism type. Your Hi-8 player is 1994 model, pretty old one. No electronics (pdf) manual is available but I'm sure I have it in paper form.
Good Luck.
Hi,

Thanks for pics,
Will reply you soon.
Hi Dear Golesof,
I got your message and replied you in same post.
Once I receive pictures of subject mechanism, it would be easy to understand how to assemble it and set timings.
Thanks for message.

To fit the mechanic parts you will need the diagrams on service manual.
Service manual for your unit is not available for free download.
You can get it herer for a small fee.
The three spares shown are all part of the TG1 assembly.
To install them you will need yo remove the Drum assembly (in picture is the big drum at the left), as the three part go underneath it.
The assembly of a VCR is done at two or three separate stages, You need to install gears from stage one first.
Grab the VHS mechanism repair manual and restart the assembly following the steps.
Here is a generic diagram for VHS, in this picture, the spare parts you have would have been from assembly 758 and 761, fitting underneath part 770, that is the drum:
The diagrams on your repair manual are similar, try to follow them, that is the only way out, unless you want to pay us a plane ticket to get there and fix it.
If I get there I am not gonna need the repair manual, I donot have repair manual for your unit. Is difficult following you without it, I used a different model to give you an idea of what part you are dealing with.
Even if schematics are different, and shapes are slightly different, the bigger part looks like the TG1 assy 758, The v shaped at right is clip 763. In your diagrams they have different numbers, you can track them and check if I am right, if we cannot proceed in this way, you may need to post here your diagrams if you want more help.
See here:
There the TG1 assembly looks incomplete, check it in your diagram.

Hi,
I have already downloaded the manual for this model. That is how I know the part numbers. The problem is that the drawings are very hard to follow. One page of the manual has three pictures, which might help but they are totally dark almost all black.
I would be glad if you have any other suggestions. I might even be able to email you a digital picture of the parts
Sorry, I couldn’t post a picture because of the size limitation of 150k. I took two pictures (.jpg) each about 4 MB and it wouldn’t upload.
The picture on top is the mechanical block and bottom picture is of the three parts in question.
Thanks
Hi,
Tanks for your reply. As you can see from my initial note (posted on Sep 27, 2008) my VCR is a SONY model EV-S7000 that is an 8 mm VCR. So I can?t Grab the VHS mechanism repair manual and restart the assembly following the steps. I didn?t even worked near the drum assembly and I can?t see how those parts came out.
Even if I were crazy enough to get you an airline ticked to come and fixt it, you would come for the wrong VCR.
Thanks,
Hi,
Thanks for your help. You are right the reason TG1 assembly looks incomplete is because I removed some parts to see if any of the extra parts go under it. In the picture below the one you marked, is a poor quality picture of the three parts in question. The part to the left looks like it could fit on a post at 5 o?clock position of your red circle but I don?t know what function it would serve. However I managed to order the original service manual for this model form SONY and I should receive it in 2 or 3 weeks. It pays to have the correct service manual for the future problems because I plan to keep the VCR. If still I have a question I will let you know.
Thanks,
Thanks for your help. I have already ordered the service manual from SONY yesterday and I should receive it in about 3 weeks.
Thanks
Hi Jaime867,
Thanks for the pictures and the part list. I also have a poor copy of the same pictures. My problem is that part 284 and 285 go on the bottom of the assembly. None of the pictures are clear enough to know where they go and in what position. There are places that they could go but I don?t know what function they serve since they don?t attach to anything else. The third part which I posted (two pictures on my initial post) , I have no clue where it goes because I can?t match anything similar in the diagram. However I had to order the original service manual from SONY two days ago. Maybe they have more explanation that can help.
Thanks for your suggestion. When I get the manual if still have problem installing these parts I will post my questions
Hi WelcomeJee,
Your friend worldvet wrote a lot of nice things about your ability to fix my problem. I posted those two pictures that you asked for. You posted that you will get back to me but some how your message and your email address never showed up anymore. I did order an original service manual from SONY and I should receive it in two weeks. I don’t like to post my email address for obvious reasons. Could you please post your email address one more time? After I receive my manual then I have more information about the three parts in the picture. I will email you and maybe we can fix it together. Then I will give you an excellent ranking.
I am an electronics and computer design engineer. Over the last 30 years I have fixed a lot of equipments, but this problem got to me. I should have taken a picture every step but I didn’t realize how poor my present service manual is. Maybe the new one would help more. I am sure together we can put it together.
