Front Glass Door Panel on Jenn-Air JDB1270AWF Dishwasher

Hello, the glass panel that is mounted on the door of the subject Jenn-Air dishwasher is no longer attached to the small brackets (flanges) that hold it on the inside. We have it taped the glass panel to the door so that it won't fall onto the floor.

It appears that the black rubber-like adhesive that is (was) between the glass panel and the small brackets (flanges) has let go. We don't need the metal brackets; we need the black adhesive to reapply the glass panel to the brackets. Can you help identify what the black adhesive is so that we can order it?

Thank you for your suggestions! We think that liquid nails would be too permanent, so I'm wondering if you can suggest an adhesive that would 1) not react adversely with the white paint on the glass panel 2) would not dissolve the black rubber-like adhesive (which has let go) that's between the glass panel and the small brackets, and 3) would be strong enough to hold the glass panel, which is where the DW handle/pull is located, and which is subject to stress caused by constant opening and closing.

    Thanking you in advance.

Ok, Harvey, we took your suggestion and got some E-6000 industrial strength craft adhesive from Eclectic Products, Inc. We'll try it tomorrow and I'll let you know how we make out with it. Thank you for your time and suggestions.

Hi again,

You think that liquid nails would be too permanent, so you're wondering if I can suggest an adhesive that would 1) not react adversely with the white paint on the glass panel 2) would not dissolve the black rubber-like adhesive (which has let go) that's between the glass panel and the small brackets, and 3) would be strong enough to hold the glass panel, which is where the DW handle/pull is located, and which is subject to stress caused by constant opening and closing.

Different adhesives are available in diferent parts of the country and they are all subject to proper instalation. So I'm going to sugest some guide lines. 1) You're going to have to do a little leg work. You're going to talk to different people in different hardware stores telling them about your three requirements. You'll be surprised at the varying degrees of knowledge. Don't argue, just take notes. 2) Once you've settled on a product it's time to test it. Find a small piece of glass and aply it to metal useing the adhesive. After drying you can tell if it is satisfactory. If not go back to no.1.
3) Once you're happy with the test find a pair of C-clamps and two blocks of wood. Aply adhesive, then using the wood blocks to protect the glass use the C-clamps on each side. Be carefull not to overtighten. Do this with the door horizontally. Just watch the adhesive, when it starts to squeeze out, stop. Make sure the clamps are aplyed evenly. Be carefull. Good luck.

Harvey

Hi Fairhill,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: It appears that the black rubber-like adhesive that is (was) between the glass panel and the small brackets (flanges) has let go. You don't need the metal brackets; you need the black adhesive to reapply the glass panel to the brackets. Can you help identify what the black adhesive is so that we can order it?

Any good adhesive will work. If you're never going to remove the glass panel then use liquiod nails allowing 24 hrs for drying time. If you might want to remove at a later date then any adhesive that remains plyable will work.

Hello,I have a curry's essentials dishwasher cdw60w16 which was stopped midwash.now the wine glass symbol is flashing on all the time, and I can't reset.can anyone help please

The wine glass flashing on door panel indicates water pressure is not turned on. This is why your portable dishwasher stopped mid way. Unplug dishwasher to reset. Plug it back in to restart. If this does not fix the problem, the water flow indicator has malfunctioned.

I took the inside of the door off my Jenn Air dishwasher and now it won't start

You broke it!!!!!!! Check out the wiring associated with on/off cycle. There might also be a switch by the door designed to not allow unit to turn on when door is open - check it out. It might not be engaged if the inner panel of door is not properly hitting the switch.

Front door flex drive window regulator tightening sequence

abd658f.gif
  1. Lower the glass all the way. Remove the trim panel as described earlier.
  2. Gently pull the air and water shields off the door.
  3. Remove the 3 nuts that attach the glass to the regulator channel. Then, lower the glass all the way.
  4. Remove the outer glass-sealing weatherstrip by disengaging the spring clip tabs from the slots in the outer door panel. To do this, grasp the weatherstrip between the thumb and forefinger on either side of each spring clip. Pull out slightly and then up at each clip until the weatherstrip is free.
  5. Work the glass off the mounting studs and remove it through the slot in the top of the lower door.
  6. To remove the regulator, drive the center pin of each regulator mounting rivet out with a hammer and drift punch. Then, drill the rivets out with a 1⁄4 in. (6mm) drill.
  7. Disengage the regulator arm from the lift plate and then remove the regulator through the access hole in the inside of the door. To install:
  8. Load the new regulator in through the access hole and engage the access arm with the lift plate. Then, bolt the regulator to the door with 1⁄4 –20 nuts and short screws, making sure these screws will not interfere with regulator operation. Tighten the screws and nuts to 90–115 inch lbs. (10–13 Nm).
  9. Install the new glass by lowering it into the door. Position the glass on the mounting studs.
  10. Install the outer weatherstrip by sliding the clips into the door panel slots and sliding them downward until they lock.
  11. Raise the glass to the top of its travel, then loosely install the 3 retaining nuts. Seat the glass fully in the upper glass run to adjust it, and then tighten the mounting nuts gently.
  12. Install the air and water shields and the trim panel as described earlier in this section.

First, with the door closed, find the screws at the bottom of the door and remove. With an assistant, open the door and remove any side and inside screws you find. The door will separate into two halves. Be aware that most glass is not clipped in...they can fall and break. Remove the front panel from the door...the door may try to slam shut. To clean the glass, use a blue cleaner and a scrubby or very fine steel wool rubbing gently. Scratches are not allowed! Take pictures of what you're doing so you can replace. Be careful of brittle door insulation.
