The printer was printing with lines half-printed in the middle 2/3 portion of the document and a error came up that (sorry did not get the code)told me to turn off printer. When I tried to turn printer back on it won't, like it has no power. I checked all connections repeatedly, I don't think it is power source or bad cables.
Hi deborah.
see if this link helps you find out why it will not turn on.

Mine has the same problem. The only difference is it threw a few errors first (weird stuff like improper cartridge, etc.) and I had to unplug/replug in the power to get it to work. Now, nothing at all. Dead. I really liked this unit too! Always used brand new Canon ink. Any ideas?

If there is no black in the test page then there is the problem with black cartridge .then try these steps
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.
1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.
# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

I reloaded the printer driver and it worked again.

You need to carefully clean the encoder strip. It's the clear strip behind the carriage that runs all the way from right to left. A damp Q-tip should remove any grease or fingerprints.

Unfortunately these are considered disposable printers.
If it won't power on at all even in a known good power outlet there isn't much you can do as the cost to repair it out of warranty would cost more than to simply replace it.
Other than checking the power outlet and the power cable nothing else to do.
