Yes service pack 1 installed, i installed two computers my sons and my main computer at home, this laptop was furnished with a student version 2007 trial, I used it for a couple of weeks then uninstalled it, used reno uninstaller to reomove all of student 2007. As far as I can see it can't find a destination to put the new software. It has one box below is exactly what it says.

after I choose to install
the installation process box apears
then another box appears

Browse for folder

setup cannot find office.en-us\OfficeMUI.msi. Browse to a valid installation source then click ok,

inertor box under what the above box says is a choose my computer, local disk, and so on
under that it says (DVD/CD-RW Drive (E:) OFFICE12) OK or Cancel

As I spent 45 minutes in chat with you, I have a vested interest in this problem. For some reason, the chat was disconnected. However, there is also no record of the chat on FixYa...

It appears that this is pirated software, and that is the reason it is not installing. Please advise the source of purchase. Thank you for using FixYa.

Please recognize that there was no offense intended in the statement about pirated software. There are many ways that people receive software, and unfortunately, there are many of us who purchase software only then to later discover that it is pirated. It has happened to a family member as well, so I am certainly well aware that there does not have to be an illegal intent on the part of the person who ends up with that piece of software that might not be legitimate. This is why I asked about the source of receipt, as it could help to identify if it is a known counterfeiting-related source.

I felt that this may not be a legitimate copy of the program only because of the message we received, and the fact that all errors found in this vein relate back to what turns out to be invalid software. It was absolutely not an accusation, and was only intended to try to help. I was unaware that the software has already been installed on another machine, as this had not previously been stated. Was that machine also a Vista Home Premium 32 machine?

Yes, the license for the standard Home & Student version includes installation on up to 3 PCs, and the message you got is not related to activation. The activation piece, as you know, comes later in the installation.

There may also be an issue with updates on Vista. Are you using Automatic Updates, and can you tell me whether SP1 is installed or not? Are there any other issues with the machine? And, finally, I was going to next ask you to check the Program List from the Start button to see if the programs listed agree with those included in the Control Panel>Add/Remove list. This will help us to find out if there is a registry issue that could be "hung up" regarding the prior installation of the trial package.

Do you know if that trial was used, or was it just uninstalled? I will very gladly continue to help you until we reach resolution, though as it relates to installation there can be many, many reasons for this failure. Thank you for using FixYa.

Ibought a new lap top in December 2009 and every time I try to use the home and student 2007 program it asks me for a product key. I have no idea where to find this Can you help

Hi,

Please let us know whether you purchased the laptop with pre-installed copy of Windows Home and Office 2007 software, i.e; the Windows Home and Office software was installed by the laptop vendor.

Usually, computer vendors install a 60-day trial version of the Windows Home and Office 2007. So, after the trial period is over, you will have to purchase the full version of the software.

Please reply to this post with more details. Thanks for using FixYa.

I just bought this brand new laptop and it has Vista on it... then the MS Office Home/Student 2007 and that kept asking me for a Prod Key... I tried the one on the laptop and it doesnt work

the one that you are trying to enter is the product key for your windows operating system. MS Office Home/Student 2007 edition has a separate product key. what was installed in your system is an MS Office Home/Student 2007 trial version. you need to purchase the product key at microsoft website.

Office Home and Student 2007 product key

The software loaded on your laptop was most likely a 60 or 90 day trial from your manufacturer requiring you to purchase a full copy

Need a prod key for home and student 2007

Every new laptop comes with MS office 2007(pre installed) and valid only for 1 month. If you still need the MS office, then you have to buy a license from Microsoft. Otherwise uninstall the MSoffice in Add or Remove programs.

I have microsoft office home and student 2007 edition installed on windows vista home premium. It keep asking for a 25-character product key that I don't have. Help!

The product key come along when you purchased a genuine software, if what you have is a trial version , then you'll need to buy the key directly to microsoft. In that way you'll have the original key for your office home and student 2007 edition

Microsoft office 2007 home and student edition trial expired without using

It depends which trial version was downloaded. You can't reinstall the same trial download but they do have other trial downloads.

There is a student 2007, small business 2007, professional 2007 etc. versions. You can download each one of these if you have not already used these trial versions. They all offer the basics...Word, Excell, Powerpoint, Outlook with added software depending on what version you download.
