    Hello Brian,
I believe the name of the program was "Storage Synch".
It was a Mini CD . Darn thing just disappeared .....
I need that program to "OPEN" the files so I can transfer them back to my computer.

    Thanks ---

Did you purchase the storage sync program youmight not be able to download that version again unless you pay for it
if you can or want another free backup utility
save this to a document then click on it to open and download second back up free edition

My windows XP OS won't recognize my SimpleTech SimpleDrive Pininfarina 300GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive

I found that often, external hard drives just don't have any active partitions and thus don't show up in Windows. Go into the control panel, administrative tools, computer management and then the disk manager and see if it has a partition. If it's just unallocated space, right click and make one.

Hi! I have a 250GB Simpletech pininfarina. I stored my PC stuff on the drive, but would like to now store information from my MAC. What do I need to do to get this working with my MacBook Pro? Jeffrey

hi balkanhope
Save information on a separate hd and wait for folowing operations to be successfull : format your Pininfarina in FAT 32 . Copy data back to Pininfarina . Connect Pininfarina to Mac and proceed further on .

I have a simpletech 120 GB external USB hard drive with NO power supply. Do you know what the power rating is (ac or dc, how many volts, amperage...) or where I can get a new power supply for it? -Thanks

12VDC, 1.5A external power adapter Well that is what this page says, it's not your 120GB drive but unsure if it's no the same model maybe. However all external HDD that need a power supply should be needing 12 volts, as they are just internal drives mounted in a shell and some simple circuitry to power and connect it.

I have a SimpleTech 120GB external hard drive. The USB connection port at the circuit board is broken. Can I buy a new plug-in circuit board and hard case for this unit?

Simpletechs have a three year warranty so if your drive is newer than that it is covered. You can go to www.simpletech.com (they are really hitachi drives) for details on warranty repair. If you are sure its not covered the case can be opened and inside you will find a SATA drive and you can buy a new SATA external enclosure for 19.99 at Radioshack. This includes the circuit board, cable, and new case.

SimpleTech SimpleDrive Pininfarina 320GB Power up problem

It could be that it's internal power supply burnt out,
in which case the drive itself could still be fine.

Try opening up the external case, and removing the drive.
Once you do, plug it in to your computer directly using its SATA cables, and see if that works.

Hope I helped,
Tom

Transferred lots of files to my Simpletech 500 GB external storage drive today. Some of the icons wouldn't load - showed as empty. Plenty of free space left on this device. Now, my HP Pavilion notebook...

I had this problem too. Went out and bought a GOOD, Reliable 6' BELKIN replacement cable of the same type. $7.00 at WalMart.

The USB cables these ship with are skinny anemic ****.

Also.. NEVER save more than a total of 128 files and folders into the ROOT of a >120Gb HDD. It will 'save them' but you will lose access to them after reboot.

Always use Folders and Subfolders.

If they are Movies... Make a \Movies dir
If Music, ditto. If Jazz, put in \Music\Jazz.. get it?
If wallpapers, put in \Pictures\Wallpaper get it??
if Tool or Utility, put in \Tools or \Utilities

I am sure none of you can think of 128 different categories of unique stuff that you could not put into subfolders just as easily
