All cycles- washer starts, water runs, there is an approximate 2 minute pause, the time remaining display flashes. this repeats 3 times then the f-06 comes up and the pump comes on to remove most of the water. the basket never moves.
The following link explains the "F06" error code on a Kenmore Elite:

In a nutshell, the error is an indication of a Motor Speed problem. This means there is a communications problem between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Drive Motor or Motor Control Unit (MCU).
However, before assuming there is a problem, unplug the washer for at least 30 minutes. In some cases the washer can experience momentary computer glitches. The 30 minute interval is necessary to reset the computer. Sometimes this is all that is required to clear some error codes.
If the error code returns following a reset, follow the advice given in the link to determine the fault.

Hello - This particular issue can be caused by quite a few reasons. Washer could be experiencing a communication error from the main control board, faulty door lock assembly or the timer itself is not operating correctly. Did you notice a humming noise? If so, either the drainage hose/pump is clogged and needs to be cleaned or could possibly have another issue with the door lock assembly or pressure switch. You can also press and hold the start/pause and cancel button together at the same time for approximately 30 seconds to display an error code on the LED. What error code does it display? However, I would suggest contacting a professional to accurately diagnose the washer.
What does the Sd code mean?
This code indicates that excessive detergent suds occurred during the cycle. The washer will not be able to spin out water with the excess suds. When "Sd" is displayed, the washer automatically extends the rinse time to remove the excess suds. During this time, the washer pauses the wash action and adds water for additional rinsing. This pause allows the bubbles in the suds to break. This process is necessary and may occur several times to eliminate the suds.
Concentrated detergents labeled 2x and higher will require a small amount of detergent based on load size. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
Use only HE High Efficiency detergent for BravosTM washers.
Is "Sd" displayed and the wash cycle dial is flashing? This indicates the washer was not able to clear all the excess suds from the washer. Re-select your desired cycle using cold water. Press Start/Pause. Do not add detergent. Is "Sd" displayed and the wash cycle dial is not flashing? If "Sd" is displayed and the wash cycle dial is not flashing, allow the machine to continue running, even if it appears that nothing is happening. When "Sd" is displayed, the washer automatically extends the rinse time to remove the excess suds. During this time, the wash action will pause to allow the bubbles in the suds to break, and the washer will add water for better rinsing. This rinsing process is necessary and may occur several times to eliminate the suds. Is the drain hose kinked or clogged? Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. Straighten the hose for adequate water flow. Remove any blockage from the drain hose, drainpipe or utility sink. Use the U-shaped drain hose form on the drain hose, and secure the drain hose. To remove the error display, press Power/Cancel or Pause/Cancel once.
If Power/Cancel or Pause/Cancel does not work: NOTE: If the error remains on the display, and all of the other questions above have been checked, call for service.
