I have a new Garmin 410 and really struggle to get it do download via the ANT agent.

I have ANT Agent 2.1.9 (on Mac OS X Lion v10.7.2), I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried setting force send on the watch but it doesn't seem to make any difference. It seem very random whether it will download and how long you have to wait (10-15 minutes seems way too long!)

How long should it take to "automatically start downloading" - with or without force send enabled?

Hello,

Once the USB ANT Stick is connected it should automatically start downloading.
Make sure the Garmin Communicator Plugin is up to date for Mac OS.

What are lions"?"

In relation to your Mac, the "Lion" is the Operating System as part of the OS X (10) series and was the 7th released. This was then called OS X 10.7 Lion, released on July 20th 2011. Later, there was OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion released as the 8th series OS X.

10.7 carried with it the iCloud integration as Apple moved from MobileMe to this new "cloud technology" and the OS was the first to never be sold in Disc form. It was only available from the App Store as an electronic download and for a short time on USB. All OS X versions after 10.6 were all downloadable via the Mac App Store.

So the Lion is just the name of the Operating System on the Mac! It's like a car that's called a Jaguar, but this is in relation to the Software the computer is running!

Unsuccesful installation firmware 2.30 to 2.50

I had a similar problem. After a few attempts I was able to update the firmware to version 2.50. This is what I did:
1. Close the ANT Agent application by right clicking on the icon next to the clock and selecting Exit.
2. Reset the Forerunner 405. Mine was frozen on the LOADER screen. I held both buttons for a few seconds and released them when the rebooting process started.
3. Open the ANT Agent application and then go to the GARMIN webpage to download the update. Make sure you have the latest ANT Agent version.
4. The update process started and ended in about 2 minutes. Then it started again and lasted anothe 9 minutes.
5. The watch reboots with the new firmware version but retains all data amd customs settings.
Good luck.

Cant install Garmin Connect software

reboot the computer in safe mode. (HIT F8 during the startup) then after the computer loads put the ANT stick in the USB slot and it will then be recognized.

remove it and then reboot normally. Now simply reinsert the ANT stick after starting the ANT agent.

worked like a charm

MY Garmin 405 wont download data. It make the connection and gets to the tarnsfer point then "transfer failed. I've one route downloaded last week but none since. I tried: resetting both...

I got the same issue and it was because of a software update to ANT+ agent being not compatible with the 405.
here is what I got from Garmin Support.
This solved my problem:
There is currently an issue that has been identified with the latest
version of the ANT agent where it will not transfer data to the computer
from a 405cx. To resolve this please follow these steps
1. If the device has paired it will need to be removed. Right Click on
the ANT agent, select Device Settings then click Remove Device.
2. Right Click the ANT agent and select Exit to close the ANT agent
3. Go to the Control Panel, select Add / Remove Programs and uninstall
the ANT agent.
4. Reboot the computer
5. Download the previous version of the ANT agent from http://www8.garmin.com/software/GarminANTAgent_221.exe
Run this file once it has downloaded
7. Turn on the pairing on the watch ? to do this go to Menu > Settings
> ANT+ > Computer > Pairing (on).
8. Enable pairing on the computer - right click on the ANT agent icon
and select Pair With New Devices > Enabled (this may already be enabled)
The Forerunner and computer should now pair, please be aware that it can
take several minutes for the computer to find the watch.
