I have a GE profile dryer model# DPVH890Ejww upon starting it turns for about 2 seconds then stops turning.I was going to check the belt ,But couldn't even figure how to get the back off and I'm very...

couldn't pull up the model number so if it's a newer model you have to take out the top panel screws in the back, then go to the front and pop off the timer knob and there's a screw there that lets you remove the front control panel and then you can get at the other screws that hold the top on,this isn't an easy dryer to work on,it has a funky belt system in it.if it's an older model open the door and look up at the top panel, you'll see two screws there, remove them and remove the top panel, then look down the sides and you'll see a screw on each side remove them and remove the front panel.hope this helps.i'm going by memory and unplug the dryer before you get into it.

How to install dryer belt for a ge model dbsr453gb3ww

  • Unplug the dryer and pull it out from the wall.

  • 2

Remove the top of the dryer by opening the door and taking out the screws along the top of the opening, then lifting the top. Remove the front of the dryer by reaching down into the opening at the top and taking out the screws holding the front in place. Move the front piece out of the way just enough so you can get to the drum inside, without disconnecting the electrical wires running from the front piece to the unit.

  • 3

Move to the back of the dryer and remove the screws holding on the small access panel at the bottom. Remove the panel. This will give access to the two pulleys holding the thin belt that runs around the drum. With your pencil and paper, draw a diagram showing exactly how the pulleys are strung. Then slip the belt off the pulleys so it's hanging loosely on the drum.

  • 4

Return to the front of the dry and pull the belt off the drum from the front. Put the new belt on the drum from the front, laying the ribbed side against the surface of the drum.

  • 5

Return to the back of the dryer and restring the belt through the two pulleys, using your diagram as a guide. Use your hands to manually turn the drum at least one full turn to make sure the belt is lined up.

GE model DQSR483EE1WW. This is what I know so far: the switch on the door works so it shouldnt be that safety, it is getting power because the light work and the timer at least buzzes like its working,...

Try looking for a broken belt. (electrical interlock prevents starting with broken belt) Disconnect power, open door, remove two phillips screws which go from top of door opening into dryer top. Swing top up and back. If belt not present going around drum, that's your problem. Remove one screw from side panel to front panel on each side (near top) and lift front panel forward and off the bottom pegs. Set the front panel to the side (leaving door switch wires attached) so you can slip new belt around drum. Reach under drum to put belt WE12M29 around drive pulley and around tensioning pulley. (grooved side of belt touches drum) Put front back on dryer and manually rotate drum a couple revolutions to make sure belt does not come off before closing up top and reconnecting power.

Marty, you need to remove the front cover on these and most dryers by removing lower front kick panel screws, then remove the front cover and then you access the top cover screws to remove top cover then you can access th drum belt

Ge dryer

you need to remove the front panel and kickplate (if you have one) This will allow you to detach the front of the top of the dryer and you can prop the top up while you replace the belt around the drum, down to the drive belt. Here's a link for your make and model. It shows an exploded view of the parts of your dryer. http://www.partselect.com/MultiModels.aspx?ModelNum=dde7100&searchTerm=&RefineSearch=0. This can help you figure out what parts you might need and how things go back together. Good luck!

Dryer belt replacement

remove the front panel. you may need to remove a kick panel below the front panel. the top panel connects to the front panel by some plastic push in retainers (you can loosen them with a screwdriver) You need to prop the top panel up. the belt goes over the top of the drum down to a drive wheel that is located at the bottom of the dryer.
