Do you have pics stored on the camera's internal memory? If so, that's the problem. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" to erase the internal memory. Then insert your card and it should work.

My kodak C190 share camera keeps givig me an erro message for the memory card. It tells me it needs formatting and when I floow prompts it goes baxk to the same error message.

Hi

You do not actually say if you have ever had the card working in the Kodak EasyShare C190 but if the card has worked in the past and is now giving the error it could be down to corruption.

Flash memory cards can become corrupted for a number of reasons - the most common being:
1. the card is removed whilst the camera is still reading or writing to it
2. the power fails when the card is being written to or read from.

Corruption can sometimes be fixed by re-formating the card using a USB card reader attached to a computer. Most cameras will provide a re-format option (which sounds as if you have tried) but all this format does it to relay the directory structure on the card - if the card is corrupted this will not be solved.

Formatting the card in the USB reader will wipe the card of all data - NOTE, any images that were on the card will be lost forever.

If this does not solve the issue I would suggest you try another card to narrow down the fault to the card or the camera itself.

I hope this helps to solve your problem

How to set a Kodak C190 to save to memory card

After you have installed your memory card, you will want to press the "Menu" button. Now look for the set-up menu, scroll down until you see the "Image Storage" operation. Once you press the "Image Storage", choose "Auto". this will allow the camera to save to the memory card.

Hi sir
#1 Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
# 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
# 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
# 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
# 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
# 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

We insert a memory chip into our Kodak EasyShare C190 camera. The read-out informs us that the memory card requires formatting. We click on "OK." The camera goes into a "formatting" mode, then informs us...

Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 2 GB) and KODAK SDHC Cards (up to 8 GB).
The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.
You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.1: Menu, Cam settings, Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.
