First, are you on a screen that has text on it to print. say a word document? Not a web page. second, how long has the 1400 been sitting before this happened? if a long time then the ink head may be clogged. Try printing in gray scale only and then in color and see if the same thing happends. Third make sure all print tasks are cleared. normally in the bottom right hand corner you will see a printer icon. if youclick it it will tell you how many jobs are waiting. clear them all. by pausing and then canceling them. (if they are there.) if none of those exist then look for the ink pad on the inside of the printer to the right. ( you will have to see if the head is moving left and right to do this.) if the printing head is moving left and right and you dont see anything stuck like paper and such in the machine then you need to find out if the black foam on the right where the print head parks when its done and shut off is wet or not. this entails watchin the print head go to the left and then shutting down power to this printer by unpluggin it. (this is not a switch off it needs to be unplugged from the 110 outlet) then if you can feel by a Q tip if you donw want to get your hands inked and see if it comes up with colors and black. if it does not then the ink heads or ink or both are dried. then do a search here on Fixya to look for clogged ink heads

Printer wil not feed paper in -keeps trying but paper will not move in.

Hi Jamieos,
Turn the printer off and on.Solved?
Turn the printer off and disconnect from PC.Unplug from power.Reboot the PC.
Remove the papers from the feed tray and look through the paper path for any obstructions.
Load the print papers and make sure they are correctly aligned on the feed tray.
Cear any print queues on your PC.
Connect everything now and start the PC.
Try printing.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

Why does my epson 1400 keep loading paper straight threw instead of printing?

I have had this problem several times. The culprit is the feed wheel which can get covered with paper dust and it loses it "bite". Epson sells cleaning sheets that are tacky and when run through the printer remove this "dust". I have also resorted to taking a piece of scotch tape and carefully sticking it to the rubber take-up wheel and then gently removing it to pull the paper dust off with the sticky tape. Another problem can be because of not setting the paper type correctly. Check to make sure that the paper type set for the printer is the same as the paper you are feeding.

Epson photo 1400 ink & paper lights keep flashing after I print. Then I have to shut printer off and re-start.

I read another epson thread somewhere and it said this:

"All you need to do is run the printer a few times with no paper. While it's "printing", use a soft cloth (I used a monitor cleaning cloth) and your index finger to clean the rubber wheel that pulls the paper through. The wheel is on the right side in the area where you feed the paper.

After hours of struggling with this tonight, it is now working perfectly. Guess I'm going to have to invest in a stash of monitor cloths..."

Hope it helps...

Epson R1800: printing 13x19" velvet paper. hand feeding into rear of printer. keeps saying eror, or paper jam or ... then finally just spits the paper through and out.

why print velvet paper? the problem is the velvet would be too thick and it would jam the print heads because when they run over the paper it would pull the velvet and it would get jammed i don`t think you should print velvet

Epson 1400 simply pulls blank paper through when I try to print

I've had the same problem. Drives ya nuts. Found that error said dvd/vcr release something or other on the epson print monitor. In any case, I found that if the front door isn't securely closed. (the front door you open to insert the dvd thingie, the paper will just feed or not feed at all. Once the door is closed on the front, the feed works fine again.

EPSON SYLUS C80 indicates "printer error: paper jam"

Epson has an interactive troubleshooting guide on their support site. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportIndex.jsp From the link above, choose your model printer. You will then be brought to the main page of your printer. Then, click on the "interactive help program" link under the Troubleshooting Guide section. Through this, you will be able to find an article describing what all the indicator lights mean and how to possibly resolve the issues.
