It's likely that your pedal is the problem. Pull the cover and check it electrically - these have been problematic in the past. You can further troubleshoot by selecting constant output and test the output.

Hi:
If there is no arc when selecting DC welding your problem could rely on the selector switch, this one can be worn out, loose cable connectors or fried.

  • Glenn Arnold Nov 10, 2011

I checked the selector for loose wires and cleaned the contacts doesn't look fried I noticed that CR1 and CR2 relays don't work when I step on the peddle but CR3 and CR4 both click and make a small spark ANY OTHER IDEAS

Miller 22G high idle issues

The toroid transformer (looks like a donut) has wires, and connectors which feed a small voltage to the idle module. Since works with grinder, I'd look for corroded connections including rusty grounds. It takes one volt ac to idle mod to trigger.
tip

Sharpening electrodes when tig welding in DC

Use the smallest tungsten possible, ie 1/16" welds up to 115amps. Hold the tungsten straight up the face of the grinding wheel so the striations go up the tungsten. This encourages the arc to go straight down the electrode thus avoiding arc wonder on lower amperages. It also helps to make the point as long as possible to encourage a finer arc. Happy welding.

Miller welder

Unfortunately, since this machine is CV (constant voltage) it is strictly for Mig or Flux-cored welding. Anything that is stick welded can be welded with Mig. All you need is a compatible Mig welder.

I have a miller bobcat 225 is lower power while welding, any idea?

First off, check all of your welding cables to make sure they're in good shape, then check for tight cable connections. Is your machine staying at low idle speed while trying to weld? If so, Switch the idle select into the 'weld' position and make sure the high RPM's initiate. Try welding again. Better? Could be a number of things, if not.

Miller blue star 6000 generates great but when welding, motor surges and seems to be welding very hot, no matter the engine speed

If your Miller Blue Star 6000 Electric Start 120V DX, 240V TWLK welding generator is generating power but the engine surges and the welding is too hot, there could be a few different things causing the problem. Here are a few things you can try to fix the issue:
  1. Check the engine speed and make sure it's set to the correct RPM for the type of welding you are doing. Lowering the RPM can help to reduce heat.
  2. Check the welding settings, and make sure they are appropriate for the type of welding you are doing. Make sure the voltage and amperage are set correctly.
  3. Check the ground connection, and make sure it's clean and tight. The ground connection must be secure for stable welding.
  4. Inspect the welding cables and make sure they are in good condition and that the connections are tight.
  5. Check the welding gun and make sure it's clean and in good condition.
  6. Make sure that the air filter is clean and not clogged, if the air filter is dirty, it will cause the engine to run hot
  7. Check the engine oil level and make sure it's not too low, a low oil level can cause the engine to overheat.
It's important to check the manual of the welder for troubleshooting steps and also check the warranty of the welder and see if it's still covered by the manufacturer. If you are not able to find the problem or if you are not familiar with welding equipment, it's best to take your welder to a qualified Miller Electric welder repair service center, they will be able to diagnose and

If I turn the ac dc switch while what dose it do to the wielder. Now im not getting any juice to wield .thank you

Changes between AC and DC voltage at the electrodes.

Q: What Type Of Stick Welder Works Best For All-Around Use?

A: A welder with an AC/DC output, whether its an electric arc machine like Miller\'s Thunderbolt or a gas engine drive like Miller\'s Bobcat.

DC welding offers advantages over AC for most Stick applications, including: easier starts; fewer arc outages and sticking; less spatter/better looking welds; easier vertical up and overhead welding; easier to learn "how to weld" and a smoother arc. DC reverse polarity (electrode positive) provides about 10 percent more penetration at a given amperage than AC, while DC straight polarity (electrode negative) welds thinner metals better.

Q: Does An AC Output Have Any Advantages?

A: Yes, if you need to weld on material that\'s become magnetized from friction, such as when hay, feed or water constantly rub against a steel part. A DC output won\'t work because of "arc blow," where the magnetic field blows the molten filler metal out of the weld puddle. Because an AC output alternates between polarities, it enables you to weld magnetized parts.

Why miller bobcat 250 runs great and generator works but wont weld fuses are good ?

If your Miller Bobcat 250 runs great, the generator works, but the welder will not weld, even though the fuses are good, it could be caused by a few different things. Here are a few things you can try to fix the issue:
  1. Check the welding settings, make sure they are appropriate for the type of welding you are doing. Make sure the voltage and amperage are set correctly.
  2. Check the ground connection, make sure it's clean and tight. The ground connection must be secure for stable welding.
  3. Inspect the welding cables and make sure they are in good condition and that the connections are tight.
  4. Check the welding gun and make sure it's clean and in good condition.
  5. Check the main contactor and make sure it's engaging and disconnecting properly.
  6. Check the main circuit breaker and make sure it's not tripped.
  7. Check the power output of the generator and make sure it's within the correct range.
  8. Check the control circuit and make sure that it's not damaged or malfunctioning.
It's important to check the manual of the welder for troubleshoot steps and also check the warranty of the welder and see if it's still covered by the manufacturer. Why would the welder on the miller trailblazer 250G 4000 watt generator welder quit working but the generator still works?

There could be a few different reasons why the welder on the Miller Trailblazer 250G 4000 watt generator welder would quit working but the generator still works. Here are a few things to check:
  1. Check the welding settings, make sure they are appropriate for the type of welding you are doing. Make sure the voltage and amperage are set correctly.

  8. Check the control circuit and make sure that it's not damaged or malfunctioning.
  9. Check the engine oil level and make sure it's not too low, low oil level can cause the engine to overheat and stop working.
  10. Check the air filter and make sure it's not clogged, if the air filter is dirty, it will cause the engine to run hot.
It's important to check the manual of the welder for troubleshoot steps and also check the warranty of the welder and see if it's still covered by the manufacturer. When I go to weld the wier will feed but it will not strkie an ark

Hi:

I suposse that you are using a wire briefcase (?), if so there is only one lead from the wire feeder to connect to the engine drive, that one goes to (+) stinger side and the briefcase has one volt sensing clamp, this one goes to your metal piece as same with the ground cable from the engine drive. If still you don't have a spark using the wire feeder but you do with the engine drive (stick welding) then your problem is your gun.

Email back if need more troubleshooting.
