All the drivers and devices are installed and working fine(Audio, Display, Network, Wireless, PCMCIA......) except my 2 USB port. I tried almost all devices on it but nothing works and cannot be detected at all ( mouse, keyboard, cam, printer etc...) Device manager say's my usb port is working properly and has no conflict at all.

USB: Intel(R) 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller - 24cd

- ...... 24c4
- ...... 24c7
- USB Root Hub.....

Everytime i plug something on the USB port i dont see any respond at all, like new usb device was found or somethin message pop up on the lower left on my screen. Nothing at all.
Hope you can help me out guys
Thanks and regards

    Good Day guys
Thanks for all your suggestion. But I already tried to re-solder it but still nothing works. I guess my last option would be purchasing a PCMCIA to USB port just like gridix advice. Again thank you all for your help....

Hi. I have the same problem. It don't think it can be solved - I have downloaded the servicemanual from http://service.marasst.com/ . In chapter 6 you can find Eternal USB Devices Troubleshooting - and the troubleshooting end ends with replace the motherboard.
I have another problem with my CL51 - I have missing keys on the keyboard. I have a danish keyboard, but I dont think thats the problem. 6 keys does not work - PgUp, PgDn, Arrow left and rigt - these 4 keys are place in the right bottom corner, Ins and Del - place in top right corner dont work either. Anyone knows where to download a bios update for keyboard?
    Thanks ......

  • aslarsen Apr 11, 2009

Hi again. Forgot to tell that the USB port has power - I can charge my Ipod and the mouse ligths up, so it's more a problem with the data bus. And it's the same for Windows 98, Windows Xp and Windows Vista - so I guess its not a problem with drivers. Forgot also to tell that I haven't heard about this problems with Acer Travelmate 290 which have the same motherboard.

My laptop is a Zepto cl51 (danish company), and they have a malfunction biosupdate for the problem with the keyboard.

you must enable it in the BIOS there is the option "Advanced" - "Legacy USB Support" must be enabled or usb do not work, allows the space

I have the same problem with the USB's not working. Suppliers say Motherboard problem. solved it by purchasing a PCMCIA to USB port. at least i now have 2 USB ports. you could probably get one with 3 ports.

The solder or the board may be broken behind the usb port unless they are disabled.

Well, I've seen this problem in Vista and XP alike. Usually they will recognize input devices such as keyboard and mouse but deny any type of mass storage device. A clean reinstall of the OS was the only thing that seemed to work. This was last resort of course after doing many chipset, registry, power saving tweaks and a repair install (not available on vista) also if you do have vista don't forget to try and remove the device in hardware manager also checking the box that claims to remove associated driver files from cache. This should come up during removal in vista.

    Otherwise... Reinstall OS.

I may have missed something but I didn't notice anyone mention trying to enable the port in "device manager". It could be disabled or need to have the software updated.

Hooked up an HP 4000 to my laptop, using USB cable. Printer seems good, laptop's fine, but Windows Printer prompt says on Status line: Error. I like the good old days when you could just hook up a cable...

Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall
the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to
connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Have you install the driver first before connecting it? Check out the Device manager entries if showing any yellow mark?
Goto start --> Run --> type in there --> devmgmt.msc this will open up the Device manager.
Check it and let me know. Have a nice day

The usb ports on my port replicator don't seem to work. Model is PR1005 and the laptop's an HP NC4010. Is this a driver issue, or a problem with the PR1005 ?

Check your usb driver in your system. it's installed than you try to check other usb device, otherwise you have to change your system's usb port. Have a good day.
