SOURCE: lost username and password for router

Hi,

To reset the password on the router, switch it off, press and hold the 'reset' button whilst switching the power back on. Keep holding the reset button until all of the LAN lights blink, and your router will be reset back to the way it was when it left the factory.

This only applies to get round the settings installed on the router. You will have to input all the telefonica settings again so that your router can connect to the internet. Resetting the router will not solve any problems regarding telefonica passwords or user names - for this, you (or the account holder) will have to contact telefonica directly.

I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: i cant access my router(EDIMAX BROADBAND ROUTER)

Warning the following instructions are likely to RESET THE ENTIRE CONFIGURATION OF THE ROUTER and you will need to reenter it completely. Do not follow these instructions unless you are prepared to reconfigure your router completely from the factory defaults. I am not sure but be careful or consult with EDIMAX support before proceeding.

note the following is from the http://www.edimax.us/ website follow technical support and click

How do I recover a forgotten password for an overdrivepro63E wireless internet stick

Wireless networking is a common feature in homes and offices.
Wireless routers provide access to a single Internet source, and wireless passwords ensure that only select users can access the network.
If a password is forgotten or lost, the password can be recovered or reset by accessing the router's Web-based settings menu.
Most wireless routers also have a reset button, which is capable of returning the router to its default settings which includes resetting the password.

Connect to your Wi-Fi or attach your computer directly to the router with an Ethernet cable.
Open your Web browser. Enter the default address of your router.
The default address is listed in your user manual or on the product website. Linksys and 3Com routers typically use "192.168.1.1" while Netgear routers use "192.168.0.1."
Enter your username and password.
Many routers use "admin" for the username and password by default.
Locate the wireless security settings.
Disable the wireless security.
Reset to Factory Defaults
Locate the reset button on your router.
Typically the reset button is a small indented hole on the back of the device.
Insert a long thin object such as a paperclip and hold down the reset button for 30 seconds to revert the router to its factory default settings.
Locate the wireless security settings and add security as necessary.

Linksys password recovery

Computer Hope does not assist users in bypassing this security measure. If this is your router and you've forgotten the username or password we suggest that the router be hard reset and then setup with a new username and password.
Default username and password

Before doing a hard reset on the router you may want to try the default username and password. While this is not the same for all routers, this may allow you access to your router.

Username: Admin or Administrator
Password: <Blank>, try just pressing enter or try "admin" as the password as well.

If this does not work and you believe the router is using the default username and passwords try viewing the default settings at routerpasswords.com.
Resetting your router

If the default username and password doesn't work it's likely you or someone whose setup your router has enabled a password that has been forgotten. Thankfully most routers will have a small pinhole button on the back or bottom of the router (like that shown in the picture to the right), pressing this button in and holding on this button for 10-15 seconds will hard reset the router. After this has been done setup the router again and enter a username and password that you can write down.
hope this helps

I forgot the password and username, and i want to change the security password of my router what shall i do?

If you have forgotten the router's password then you have to reset the router to factory default to access the interface again. Then you can use the router's default user name and password, that is admin and admin (or username: " " (leave it blank) and password: admin (all in lower case)

You can find the default passwords on the following website;

http://www.routerpasswords.com/index.asp

Once you have logged in to the router console, you can set new security password

I have linksys wireless router and am trying to get wi fi on a recently purchased Kindle but Have forgotten my Linksys password. Please help

Hi nancylousdol,

If you have forgotten your password you can reset the router to its factory state and setup a new password for it. Resetting the router will wiped out all changes that have been saved. To reset the router, look for the small hole at the back of it. Press and hold it for 10-15 seconds using a Pen or Paperclip. Then access the router settings page so that you can personalize the settings.

For you to access your router you need a working computer that is connected to the router and open a browser type 192.168.1.1 to he address bar and it will ask you for a username and password. The default username is "leave it blank" and the default password is admin.

Rate me if this helps so i can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya

I ahve forgotten my forgotten netgear password on WGR614 router. Please advise Thanks Tony

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.

or

if there a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings

hope this helps

I changed my password but I forgot it

Do you have a Linksys router and you have forgotten your password or you want to reset the password to the default. Firstly you must have physical access to the router. This article is basically for WRT54g and model BEFW11S4
If you have changed the password from the default password and have forgotten the default or your router did not come with any documentation.
To regain access to the router try the following. In the username field leaveit blank and in the password field type admin

Username / leave blank
password / admin
clip_image001.jpg
The Rest Button on a Linksys Router

To reset the router
While the back of your router might look different, the reset button is usually clearly marked. To reset the router to the default password, insert something thin--like a pencil point--and depress the red button. Hold that for a few seconds. The password for your Linksys router should have reverted to its default.
Try accessing it from a machine that is plugged directly into it. The default address is usually http://192.168.1.1. When you gain access to the router then you can change the password to any word of your choice.

Hi, I want to connect a PS3 to my wireless router but have forgotten the password?

If you have never actually set a password, go to eh IP Address 192.168.1.1 OR 192.168.2.1. The username field is blank and the password field is admin.

If you have actually forgotten the password, you need to reset the router. You can do this by gaining physical access to your router. There should be a reset button (or hole) in the back of it. You need a pin or something really skinny that is able to fit inside there. Hold the button for 20 or 30 seconds. After the router lights stop blinking about, the router is fully reset to factory details. Go to the IP Address 192.168.1.1, and the username and password is the same as above.
