I have a gateway kav mini laptop when I turn it on the left side of the screen show ok but the right doen't. It has a shadow box and it that side of the screen flickers. How can I get the screen back

Try doing system restore..check if that works else contacst gateway..your laptop's lcd needs to be replaced at 800-846-2301

Look for the button that diverts your output video to external connection. Repeated hitting changes the output.
Mine looks like a small empty box with a vertical line on each side.
Make sure the vga cable is in tight on the kav-60 and the external monitor.
Try the keystrokes to toggle the display. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN function key located at the lower left on the keyboard then hit the key F1 thru F12 that toggles the display. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit will have LCD/CRT on it or it will have the icon of a display. The display toggles in three stages ( laptop only, external only or both laptop and external).
If you mean that the left side of the screen goes darker than the right side, then this is an indication of a faulty backlight. There are probably two CCFL tubes, one on each side of the screen. If one starts to fail, then that side of the screen will get less light and look darker. The tube may need to be replaced.
If it's a Mini 1012 there is a VGA (15 pin) connector on the left side of the laptop. You can try to connect an external monitor to see if you get a display. If you do, then your LCD display has a problem and needs to be replaced. If you have a Mini 1010 there is an HDMI jack on the right side of the laptop where you can connect an external monitor.
right click on an open area of the desktop and select "properties" or Video control panel, whichever one it shows you. Look to the left pane and look for the text "screen orientation". hoose "landscape" or "0" degrees whichever one it shows. Click apply and ok.

There is a physical wireless switch on the left side of the computer. The switch turns both the wireless network adapter and the bluetooth on and off. You need to first make sure that this switch is on.
With switch in the ON postiton, then you can use the FN-F2 keys to toggle the wireless LAN on and off.
The wireless adaptor is probably a mini-pci card that can be access through a panel on the bottom. Wireless cards on laptops are not considered user-replaceable so Gateway does not show where the panel is or if it's mini-pci card. If there is a panel other than the hard drive and memory then that is where the wireless card is. They are not hard to replace though it's best to try to replace it with an exact model. If the computer is in warranty, they Gateway will have you send it into their service depot to have it replaced,
