You could have a defective oil filter, You put the oil filter on with out wetting the rubber o-ring with oil, you accidentally doubled up the new rubber o-ring deal with the old o-ring seal, the filter you put on had no seal on it, the seal popped out of the groove and was cut during installation, or you put on the new drain bolt on with no gasket/washer or a damaged/bent/used sealing washer instead of a new sealing washer.

Check the oil filter. The old gasket might be stuck on the engine (two gaskets stuck together), or the new gasket might be defective, misaligned or missing.

I assumed this happened right after an oil change. If that isn't the case, check the crankshaft oil seals and head gaskets. I don't recall any other gaskets that have oil under pressure, which is what it would take to lose it that fast. If there are any dents or rust spots on the oil pan, look at them closely for pinholes or cracks.

4 CYLINDERS ENGINE OIL LEAKS WILL BE AT OIL FILTER GOT HOLE OR OIL FILTER SEAL DAMAGED OR OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT IF YOU REPLACE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT YOU NEED WRAP LAYER OF TEFLON TAPER ON OIL SENDING UNIT THREADS TO KEEP OIL FROM LEAKING OUT.NOW IF YOU HAVE V 6 ENGINE OIL WILL LEAK FROM OIL FILTER OR SEAL DAMAGED OR FILTER TOO LOOSE TIGHTEN LITTLE MORE WITH HANDS AND A RAG.CHECK OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR O RING ON TOP ENGINE WHERE DISTRIBUTOR USE TO BE I HAVE SEEN OIL POUR OUT FAST IF OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR O RING SEAL DRY UP CRACK YOU WILL LOOSE OIL QUICKLY.YOU NEED ADD CORRECT AMOUNT OF OIL IN ENGINE RAISE UP CAR UP A LITTLE CRANK ENGINE FOR FEW MINUTES WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE ON LAY UNDER CAR SEE WHERE OIL LEAKING AT FIRST LOOK AT OIL FILTER, THEN OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT. LOOK FOR STEADY STREAM OIL COMING DOWN FROM TOP BACK SIDE OF ENGINE IF SO OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR LEAKING O RING SEAL CRACKED FAILED LEAKING OIL.I WOULD NOT DRIVE UNTIL FIX BECAUSE LOOSE TOO MUCH OIL WILL COST YOU ANOTHER ENGINE.

Is it time to junk 1999 alero 135k miles?

Where is the gallon of 50/50 going if no leaks and apparently not into the oil? Is it going out the exhaust which would be a bad Head gasket failure? So Some boil over due to overheat? Take the coolant tank cap off then start the car and see if bubbles, maybe steam eventually. If bubbles, they are probably the leaking combustion gases leaking through the Head gasket. Sometimes, retorque of the head bolts will slow the leak down. Otherwise need gasket replacement and possible head mill if it has "warped" or Junkyard heads that are good. You can confirm head gasket leak and location by a leak down test. You may be able to borrow tools from some of the auto parts stores. Have you used "leak stop" in the radiator? Sometimes that will block radiator cooling channels and cause overheating. Hopefully, that is the issue and a radiator replacement the fix. Could be a bad water pump, but if you get heat that is probably not the problem. I did that to a Chrysler many years ago and wife's car! Hope this helps.

Is it smoking? If so then that's a sign of burning oil.Could be bad rings"check your plugs to see if any have oil on them.Check around your valve cover gasket for leaks.Oil seal could be leaking.Check oil pan gasket too.

Oil leaking from bottom of engine from my 1999 oldsmobile alero

I'd start with replacing the Drain plug Gasket. Most conviniontly done with an oil change but you can do it without changing the oil also (Helps to have 2 people)
Also It could be leaking anywhere, (Gravity pulls it down to the bottom of the engine) Thats where I would start. They normally are around 50 cents (give or take) at your local parts place.

I just got my oil pan gasket leak fixed on my 2000 Alero, but it's still leaking oil? What else could it be?

Most likely if its coming from the lower part of the engine its either a front or rear main seal. Again the general location of the leak is important to diagnosing the problem.

Please take a moment to rate my answer.......... Thanks

My 2000 chrysler cirrus had a small undetectable water leak. My mechanic 1st said it was the freeze plugs rusted, then he replaced the radiator cap, thermostat, and gasket seal. I drove it 20 miles and...

sounds like a snow job
should have pressure tested the system on the hoist and all leaks fixed the first time round
the cap , thermostat and whatever gasket that was replaced was not necessary as the cap and thermostat would not be the leak
ask what the long tube is for as radiator and heater hoses can be got from a local parts shop or dealer spares
next time use accredited service centers and get a better job done cheaper

I think water on the plugs would make it run rough. But, that would be from the cylinder head gasket leaking into the cylinders and not a radiator leak. It's possible that the leak at the head gasket sealed up. Do you have to add coolant to the radiator to keep the level up?

If not, then it is just a fluke, and I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Just keep an eye on the coolant level.

Oil around spark plugs on 1992 honda accord

Yes the oil can cause the car to lose spark, the oil leak could be caused by the valve cover gaskets around the spark openings, but 9 times out of 10 it is the spark plug tube "O" rings. The top of the valve train comes off of the head, the "O" rings are between the two halves, that will fix the oil leak.

1999 olds alero leaking coolant

problem could be heads bolts . i put new bolts in put a little sealer on them . make sure your bolt holes is clean free from debris. put a lillte sealer on intake gasket on top and bottom where coolants travel. if all was done . drain engine oil in clean container .set it aside. take radiator cap off .you a coolant pressure rise kit .put a pan under oil pan with drain plug still off .pressure your radiator about 10 psi. make sure you have antifreeze in radiator and engine . when you pressure up to 10 psi look under the car if coolant comes out oil pan. you got leaking head gasket. if not .put oil pan plug back on . put oil back in car . check your freeze plugs also.
