Is there a fix for the washer it's chewing my towels

Terry cloth towels and bathrobes have been getting chewed up in the washer. Nothing feels sharp. Is this a known problem with a fix? Thanks

This washer is known to eat some clothes.
I found a great big silk pillow case between tubs once:

Most of the damage is done in the beginning of the cycle directly after the brain has re-destributed the clothes. Any items of clothing with strings need not be washed in this machine or the strings will get into the pump:

I wrote an article for FY on these:

My check engine light just came on and I took it in. I was told rats chewed thru my ignition coil. To replace it they are charging me $671 for the part alone!! I feel like this is outrageous and I'm...

I've been in this business long enough to believe that nothing is impossible. That said, I've seen many wiring harnesses chewed up by rodents, but never hard parts like a coil. If a harness has a few wires chewed, most shops will just repair it but if there is extensive damage, likely they are replacing the entire thing. Depending upon which harness needs replacement, the cost can be expensive both for labor and the part itself. That would make more sense. Sure there isn't a mis-communication and that's actually what the shop is doing??

Our washer is cutting our clothes.

Possible that there is a gap in the spinning agitator that seems to chew up the clothes to damage.
SO if you notice this gap then remove and reset the spindle.
if not make sure that the drum pores have some sharp edges which is tearing , run your hands/palm over the drum for a suspected abrasive edge. Can be some objects that have lodged into and causing to behave as a knife edge.

Hi i have a whilpool 5132E top load washing machine i bought second hand, my cloths collect fluff, especially the towels. Does thi model have a filter.thank you chrissie

no but it sound like the agitator has a sharp edge and chewing up the cloths feel your finger all the surface area of the plastic and feel for a gouge or rough area then get sandpaper or other type of item that will smooth it out and that should stop the fluff issue

My Sears Kenmore, 2 years old washing machine is ripping clothes

If this has a paddle, check it for a sharp edge, also make sure it is not loose, the top cap should be able to be pulled off to see the locking
bolt, and you can check to see if it has loosened.

Feel everywhere on the inside of the washer for a edge that might be catching your cloths. You can also try the gentle cycle and see if it does not rip them.

You did not post the model# ,so I have no clue what style it is.

Have you checked the agitator? There may be sharp edges on the agitator blades. OR the towels may be getting stuck under the agitator and tub bottom. The agitator is supposed to suck the clothing down in the center and forcibly throw the clothing outwards against the tub. The cycle then repeats.

Door latch broken, clothes stuck inside!!

not that easy. best way to try is to chew away as much of the handle as possible till the door peg is in view then prise open with a small screwdriver. you can sometimes reach down the inside the machine from the top and feel for the tip of the peg and do it that way
