I have a Linksys Wireless WRT160N Router and noticed I have had it for more than a year that the wireless will drop out when I am using my I touch. A few months back I upgraded the firmware and still have the problem. I have to reset the wifi on my I touch before I can reconnect. I though it might only be a problem with the I touch until last week when I got a smartphone and it is doing the same thing to with that. thanks tom

SOURCE: Linksys wrt160n drops connection

Have you verified the DHCP lease of the external and internal IP? Could be a case where the issued IP is renewed and breaks comm, although this should not happen.

Is there any computer connected to the router ?
If not then connect the computer to the router. If you are connecting a wireless computer then disable the wireless connection on the computer. open the set up page of the router. change the wireless network name to something different that you never used before. change the standard channel to 11. save the settings. Try to connect to the wireless network. Check if you see the new network name ? If you see the new then try t connect and see if that works.

Will not allow me to connect using an ipod touch.

My IPaq wireless has an icon that lets me log into other networks by just selecting them and putting in the password or no password if it's an open network.

I Googled the Ipod touch instructions and found a MAC blogger with the specific instructions here http://mac.blorge.com/2008/07/14/wi-fi-setup-how-do-i-access-the-internet-with-my-ipod-touch/

If you can't login because you don't see the router, try logging into the router from a computer connected to it and make sure the wireless is turned on and broadcasting an SSID. If you have a WEP password set, you will be able to read it under the Wireless Basic Wireless Settings tab. If you need specific help with the WRT, you may visit the Linksys site. Here's a link to connecting your wireless device to a Linksys product http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=20947

or, here's a manual where you can start at page 13 http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/userguide/WRT160N_V10_UG_A-WEB,0.pdf

Linksys wrt160n will not broadcast the internet wireless or ethernet it will however broadcast a connection to the router not the internet. I have tried to re-set it, power down, nothing works. I have not...

Your Linksys WRT160N is a router that can be accessed via CAT-5 cables and wirelessly. You must configure the router though, for wireless use. If this is not configured or not configured correctly, then you may have problems using it wirelessly. Laptop computers usually use the 802.11g mode, not the 802.11n, at 54MB or with the right NIC in a desktop you can get 108MB. If it was working then quit without your doing anything, you may have to replace the router, but I doubt it.
