Printer shows application downloading from list and nothing else
If you are scanning documents for editing or saving them as PDF, you will need to install the OCR scan software. The Lexmark OCR scan software is available only on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you lost the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center to request for one. If that doesn't help, try the steps below:
If your scanner was working before, it could be just a slight communication problem. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by
resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer
from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and
re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns
on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again
once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on
the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

I have the same problem. I cannot scan in WiFi to this laptop but can with the USB cable. Even with the USB cable it says that it is downloading the application list and the "cannot retrieve application list."
I have Paperport Pro 11 software for scanning. I am able to use the interface with the USB.

delete the norton internet security as its blocking the scanner files of your printer software .or try reloading the printer drivers again but if reloading the printer drivers does not helps then removing the norton software is compulsary as the files of printer are getting blocked so scanner is not working.

No solution here - just confirmation. Mine say that it (the scanner) cannot save files to my hard drive, that it is full. That's far from true, but to a dumb accessory a locked target folder/directory will look like a full disk. Does anyone know where Lexmark parks it's temporary files? I've looked in all the usual places on my Mac, and can't find anything yet. (I have previously found a Brother parks it's initial scans, before you save them, deep in a normally inaccessible corner of the System folder.)
