I have three black marks on the inside of the TV screen. I can't get them off. Is there a way to get the spots off?

I have black, gray, and white spots on the screen of my Mitsubishi rear projection TV. They show up whenever the background is white or black. It is not something on the surface of the screen. The TV is five years old - the problem was noticed fairly recently. The spots are small - but can be seen from 10 feet away. When you get close to the screen the edges of the dots are fuzzy or blurry.

I have the same problem. There are little dots all over the screen. They are very noticable when the screen is white. Any idea how to clean them?

We've had the same JVC tv for about 2 years and it has 3 blackish/gray spots on what looks to be the inside of the screen. They just appeared one day. No idea what they are or how to get rid of them.

I fixed it!!!! If you can open one of the sides (on the JVC there is a little door with a screw), then you can clean the projector lense in the middle on the bottom. It kind of looks like a big light bulb. It seems there is just dust on the glass that is projected onto the screen. We had a big gray spot and cleaned it with a damp glass cloth and Ouila! It disappeared. I scored MAJOR brownie points with my husband for this one! He wanted to replace the TV!

I REMOVED THE SIDE DOOR OF MY JVC AND SAW THE LENSE HAD DUST ON IT. THE HOLE IS KIND OF SMALL SO MY ARM DIDN'T REACH THROUGH ALL THE WAY TO GET TO THE LENSE AND CLEAN IT. MY WIFE HAD A SWIFTER DUSTER (YOU CAN FIND THEM IN THE CLEANING ISLE OF MOST SUPERMARKETS)SO I TRIED THAT, WORKED GREAT!!! CLEAN PICTURE.THANKS CASTINE AND CINDERBELLE.

I used my HDTV screen cleaner and everything and it still didn't work...so i decided to check the projection lens like stated and sure enough there was a big piece of lint on it...i cleaned it off with a swiffer and its gone and the picture is actually clearer than before!

There is another way to fix it.

Take the side panel off like previously stated, but you can use just a can of compressed air to clean the little screen on the bottom of the TV. Took 2 mins...screen is clean.

Black spots on philips tv

Sounds like your light engine may be dirty or just faulty. You might try taking a dry rag and cleaning the lens on the light engine. If you decide to replace it or send it someplace for repair the part number is TS-COP9A-SAA

Need to Clean The lense

If this is a projection TV (DLP or LCD), dust could be on the lens or the mirror assembly. Moving a set can dislodge dust and dirt that's accumulated inside and deposit it onto the lense or mirror. A worst-case scenario would be dust on the LCD chips. Unless you're experienced and/or comfortable opening up the set, I'd recommend contacting a local TV serviceman.

Have black dust looking spots on my screen.

Howdy;
Yes there is a way. The easiest for you would be to remove the back top of the TV. That will give acess to opt lense and mirror. But first check the Lamp and inspect the lense that the Lamp into. It does not take a lot to cause your concern. Use super soft cloth and wipe surfaces.

Good Luck,Big Irish.

I have a 56" JVC rear projections HD ILA tv.

Turn tv off and unplug it. Take the access door off either side of the tv. Use a dust cleaning tool like a swiffer with an extension (or make one). Clean off lens (most likely the problem). I have the same thing that happens to my JVC 61". You can use a vacuum with extension if your VERY careful.

Spot on JVC hd-ila screen

There are several things that could be causing this. Dust or foreign matter on the inside of the screen, dust or foreign matter on the reflecting mirror or dust in the optical block or light engine. The first two can be fixed by you if you can gain access to the interior. The third will require a technician. If you have had your question answered, please be sure to rate the solution. Thanks!

Gray spots on screen on a JVC HDILA model HD 56G 787

The HD-ila sets accumulate a lot of dust in the light engine. The worst offender is the little fold mirror just under the lens. I take my set apart about every 8 months or so to clean all the dust from the light tunnel and all lenses, mirrors, diffusers etc. The picture really regains it's pop when this is done. Unless you are a skilled technician though, I would recommend against attemptimg this procedure as you need to disconnect the individual color lcds. Check with a local service center to get it properly cleaned.

Gray spots on screen on a JVC HDILA model HD 56G 787

The gray spots are caused by dust on your lens, very easy to clean.

Power down the TV.

If you open the right side access panel (right side as you are looking at the front of the TV) you can see it in the middle, it's not very big. Using a scratch/lint free cloth, gently wipe off the lens or use a vacuum to **** up the dust being careful not to actually touch the lens.

Replace the access panel and enjoy your spot free screen.
