SOURCE: i do not have any

First, the obvious, check speaker jacks, and speaker power button...then, go to control panel and click "sounds and audio devices"...make sure the "Mute" box is un-checked and volume is turned up..if all of this is o.k., then, go to control panel, Click "System" and then "Hardware" tab , then, "Device Manager" , check to see if you have a yellow yield w/ exclamation point..if you have this, it is probably a driver problem, it will probably need to be re-installed.

SOURCE: lcd monitar

If you use OS Windows, try this :
Start Menu - Control Panel - Display (double click) - in tab Setting - read this sentences :
Drag the monitor icons to match the physical arrangement of your monitor
Click in the right-mouse on screen 1, click in "Attached". May be you can see LCD. Or, try this : you need monitor CRT of computer. Plug in to slot VGA inside your laptop. And restart your laptop. See in your monitor CRT. If your monitor CRT will see your display and your LCD laptop didn't see anything, it's that mean for your laptop is broken in video display onboard. Replace new one of your laptop mainboard.
Or, press button of 'Fn' and 'F3', will be switched between your LCD laptop or other monitor in your slot VGA.

My laptop is unable to read external device (disc of photos). Had ability to do so until hard drive crashed whilst still under warranty (no longer under warranty now). The only drives on computer now are...

Make sure that your source disc is compatible with your drive. if it has a dvd, then you can use dvd disc.

Also, try to download and install the DVD/CD driver for your laptop.
tip

How to troubleshoot a system that will not boot to the hard drive.

  1. Ensure that there is no diskette in the A: drive if system is equipped with a 1.44 Floppy Diskette Drive. If a disk in the drive, remove it and reboot.
  2. Boot to the BIOS, reset defaults, reboot
  3. If system still will not boot to the hard drive, power off, disconnect all peripheral items (Printer, scanner, external drives and USB drives) reboot.
  4. At this point, boot to Diagnostics partition, or CD (F12 menu on some systems, Some HP systems have Hard drive diags in BIOS, Fn+Power for Dell Portables, CTRL+ALT+D for some Dell Desktops) If the hard drive fails diagnostics, replace the hard drive. If the drive passes diagnostics, it is not a guarantee the drive is good, just no fault was detected.
  5. If the drive passes diags, then see if you can boot to a Windows CD/DVD. If you can't, either remove, turn off in BIOS or disconnect the hard drive, and see if you can boot to the Windows Media. If you can with the HDD disabled/removed/disconnected, again, replace the HDD.
  6. If you can boot to the Windows Media, then go to Recovery Console in XP and run CHKDSK /R (Vista or Windows 7, run the repair my computer option off the menu, this may take multiple passes to fix) If this fails to resolve, then boot back to recovery console and run BOOTCFG /REBUILD (This is already done in Vista/7 in the repair tool)
  7. If that fails, you will most likely be reinstalling Windows. If the Windows install crashes during a file copy, try RAM modules one at a time (Windows install is still the best RAM test we have) If the Windows install still crashes, replace the Hard Drive.

Iomega Prestige 1.5TB external hard drive won't start-up properly

Try replacing the power supply. Especially if all you get is a beep and no drive motor noise. The power supply is 12 V, 1.5 A, center positive polarity. Iomega may even replace it for free if the drive is still under warranty. But don't use the phone. Use their free chat-live service. Again, assuming the drive is still under warranty, which is a year, I think.

Laptop blue screens when trying to reinstall vista

The problem might be with the bad sectors on a hard drive. You should run Scan Disk on a partition where you were trying to install Windows Vista.

Loading xp in my machine wich had vista home premium earlier

If your hard disk crashed then it sounds like the boot partition is corrupted or gone. I'm not sure you can rescue this without some professional software or help for that matter.

Might be just as easy & cheaper to buy a new hard drive & instal from scratch. Hard drive prices have dropped significantly over the last few years & at least you'll get a warranty with the new one!

Hope this helps

Two hard drives Vista and XP not booting

If you would like to start up in the xp ,At computer start up hit F1 or F2 there are so many ways some times its hold the del key ,once your into the BIOS you can change the boot order of your drives to make the drive xp is on load first .You will have to do this everytime or buy a program that will do it for you .I would just leave the power unpluged on one of the drives until you need it that way it will be safe from a virus or if you have a hard drive crash you always have one good drive .Hops this helps.

Blue Screen

Is this still under warranty? If not then you'll just need to buy another HDD (hard drive device) and connect that one where the old was. Re-install XP or Vista. Conact Gateway or go to the Gateway web site to see what was hardware was supported for your system.

HDD IDE/EIDE or SATA/SATA II
OS XP or Vista

After you find out the info just install the new HDD, and install the OS. I only recommend doing this since you can't even get into the Safe Mode. When everything is back up and running you can also re-attach the old drive to what is called Slave or CS (cable select) this is more automatic process. Then you'll be able to recover any data missing that you need that was on the older drive.

Toshiba satellite screen blank

This could be that the hard drive has failed, and could also be the reason for the initial crash. Run a drive test in the bios or set up. If the test fails in any area then the hard drive is bad and will need replaced. If it passes, then reformat the drive and reinstall XP.

Hp dv6000

There is option in BIOS called something about automated SATA recognition or similar - disable it. It is under System configuration. And if you are putting new drive in then run full test from BIOS (Hard drive selftest - takes about 79min.)
I tried to reinstall Windows Media center on my HP dv6000 because my previous hdd crashed - When I put in installation cd - it said that it can't find hdd. I spent week to figuring that out. The thing is - as far as you haven't disabled that SATA thing in BIOS - PC doesn't recognize hdd. But only with Windows media center edition. With all other windows xp - there is no such problems. Strange.
