Entire Desktop Shifted Off The Screen

Hi Guys,
My problem is that my desktop has been moved to the left of the screen and i can only see black. However, i am able to move my cursor off the screen and drag some icons to the current one. Is there a way to shift my desktop back to the centre? I have tried changing the horizontal on the OSD menu but it is locked and holding down the Auto/Set button but nothing's changed (it says 'Digital Video Input No Access'). Factory reset also does nothing.
Thanks in advance, Andrew
P.S the monitor is set on digital power-saving mode

Check out the monitor settings. You need to see the settings and see what size it's set at.

How to change orientation of monitor

I'm a little unclear of what you are asking.

1) Screen has turned on monitor?

Press the CTRL key, and ALT key down at the same time.
Now tap on the Left Side Arrow key, until the screen is oriented correctly again.

2) Screen on monitor has shifted left, right, top, or bottom?
Use the controls on the monitor to set it correctly again.

3) Using dual monitors?
Right-click on an empty space on your desktop screen.
Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
Left-click on Settings.

The monitor 1 icon is supposed to be your Primary monitor.
The monitor 2 icon is the Secondary monitor.

Ordinarily the Primary monitor is on the LEFT side, and the Secondary monitor is on the RIGHT side.
Just as shown in the Settings window.

If you wish to move a monitor to the other side, go to the monitor icon you wish to move.

Put your mouse cursor on the monitor icon you wish to move.
Left-click, and hold the left mouse button down.
Now drag the monitor icon you wish to move, to the other side.

Not doing it for you?
Then post in a Comment with more exacting information, as what it is that you wish to do.

The screen appears to be too small for the desktop display. If I want to see the left side of the screen I have to move the arrow over to it, and then the right side of the screen disappears. Basically, I...

Hi Jessica.

You have you graphics card resolution set too high. I assume you are using some version of Windows. If so, right click the desktop and left click properties (Windows XP), click the advanced tab and reduce the slider to 1024 x 768 and apply the settings. If using Vista or Windows-7, right click desktop and left click screen resolution and select the above setting. This shoud correct the panning issue and give you your entire screen back. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have a 23" dell lcd monitor. There is about an inch of black on all sides with no picture. How do I enlarge the picture to cover the entire screen.??

Right click on the desktop, then click on Properties > Settings tab.

You can then experiment with the different screen resolutions until you find one that displays your desktop properly and fills up the monitor view. For example move the small slider to 1280 x 1024 pixels and press OK. If the screen still doesn't look ok just repeat the above steps and try another resolution setting by moving the slider further to the left or right

Would you kindly rate my answer please if this has helped resolve the problem - thanks :)

The left third of the screen is black i.e. the whole screen seems to have shifted 3 inches to teh right and so only two third of screen is now visible. Can't open and close documents for example.

Hi,

Pls go to menu option in the monitor and set the horizontal setting as per your desktop requirement. If there are no effect after increasing the width then issue with internal component in the monitor .its better to call vendor for repair.

My sony vaio desktop with all the icons shifted to the left

If there is nothing wrong with your monitor, you should have a menu button on the monitor , open it and reset it to factory defaults. Also right click on your desktop, select properties and make sure you have your resolution set correctly, try changing it and see if that helps.

Black striped down left hand side of display

Hi Danny, you haven't been very clear I will assume you pushed the auto configure on the monitor,
I would go into the menu on the monitor and reset the size of the screen if it has a setting for that 1024x768 should fix the problem
let me know what you find as I have never worked with a hp W19 monitor, if nothing else set the monitor to defaults again in the menu and that may get you back to having normal screens.
