Hello.

TOOLS NEED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM
(A) Screwdriver, Petroleum jelly.

1 Inspect the screws on the door hinges. If they are loose and the door is hanging unevenly, the door will not latch properly.

2 Prop the door up by sliding a magazine under it. Move the door in the hinges until it is correctly aligned. Tighten down the screws with a screwdriver.

3 Check the screws on the strike plate on the door jamb if the door still won't latch. Tighten the screws on the strike plate then try closing the door.

4 Inspect the inside of the strike plate hole for obstructions, such as dirt and debris, that prevent the latch from inserting properly.

5 Place a bead of petroleum jelly on the latch. Turn the handle to retract the latch. Close the door and let go of the handle. Turn the handle again to retract the latch and inspect the mark made by the jelly. Move the strike plate to accommodate for the overlap of the latch. Try closing the door again. Adjust as necessary.

Thanks.

Bendix800 Machine wont start when door is closed over , unless slamed !

Assuming it works OK when the door is slammed shut;
You have 1 of 3 potential problems:
1. The door hinges are failing & when you push the door closed, the latch isn't lining-up with the keeper.
You can test this by lifting the door slightly as you close it & the push it closed as you normally would.
If that works, you just need new door hinges.
2. The latch on the door is failing.
It might be loose, in which case it might just need the screws tightening-up, or it might be damaged & need replacing.
3. The keeper inside the machine, which the latch locks into, isn't working properly.
It might be loose & need re-locating or the screws tightening up.
The electric terminals might be corroded & need cleaning & possibly tightening-up.
The keeper might be faulty & need replacing.

The keeper is inside the machine & you will need to remove the access panels to get at it. DO NOT remove any panels or do any work on the machine until it has been unplugged from the power-supply.
Best of luck.

How do I Close the door on my Bosch WTL 500 dryer

Push it closed.. I guess you mean that the door wont stay closed?? If so, the door latch has probably broken. Either the tongue on the door itself or the latch on the cabinet.

Tailgate door wont latch

IT sounds like you closed the Trunk/ Liftgate with the Latch partway closed. Lube the Latch and hopefully it is not bent. If it is not latching, you can try and ensure it is aligned propery (use a piece of Tape and see where it is hitting the STRIKER...

If not, you are going to be replacing the Latching Mechanism.

Vw 2.0tdi the passenger door wont open from outside and wont always close??

Take off the door panel and check to see if the linkakge from the outer handle to the latch has become disconnected and for the closing problem lube the latch well more than likely its not opening fully when you pull the door open so when you go to close it it pushes the latch closed before the actual bar its suppose to latch to enters the latch

1999 Chevrolet Venture Power sliding door opens back up after closing. I have cleaned the contacts on the door post and on the door itself. There is nothing in the way, ie: weatherstripping or seat belts....

simple door latch, try unplugging the power and see if the door opens, if it does its not the motor. if the door is out of alignment it wont latch. if the latch in the door is broke it wont latch. try locking the door when its closed.

When i close the door on my 95 chevy corsica it doesnt close. it just bounces back. please help im a girl and my parents dont know so use small simple words please.

I think what has happened is that the door latch (the one in the door) has somehow closed and won't let the door shut normally.
Here's how it works. The door latch consists of two major parts. One is the short, round metal tube thing that is attached to the car body about halfway up where the door shuts. Inside the door there is a latch in a slot that lines up with round metal tube thing when you shut the door. I think what has happened is the latch has closed, not allowing the door latch to slide over the metal tube thing and close completely. If you look at the latch in the door slot you'll (hopefully) see what I mean. Now how to fix it.
You'll need a medium to large screwdriver and maybe some help from a friend. First, lift the outside door handle like you are going to open the door. Hold it up. Then, with the screwdriver, push the latch in the door slot UPWARD until it clicks and latches.
It is difficult to put this in words but it usually is an easy fix. No damage done to your car (unless you REALLY slammed the door hard numerous times..).
Please re-post with any questions.

Door ajar light stays on

go to your local parts store and buy a can of PB BLASTER lubricant then open each door and spray the latch assembley really good then close and open the door 10 to 15 times. do this with each door. the door ajar light switch is located in the door latch assembley and cannot be seen so soak the latch assembleys really good so lube reaches the switch. these switches sometimes get stuck but this usually frees up the switch

Door wont latch shut

Is there a dl code? If not note the door striker position as the door closes. If you have to push it shut you need a door lock and if the striker is hitting below the latch too much a hinge will fix it. Finally look for a black pin above the striker for any damage as the latch will need to be replaced if broken too. Because with this and a door hanging low will not close the circuit and the ccu will believe the door is open also.
