1.Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge. Wait 1 or 2 minutes.
2.Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge into printer.
3.The Drum LED continues to blink if the drum counter was not reset when you replaced the drum. We need to reset this now!
4.Open the front cover of the printer
5.Press and hold down Go button for about 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up.
6.Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the Go button
7.Close the front cover.
8.Your drum is now reset.
Reseat the toner cartridge. Turn the printer off, and then back on again. You may want to try a new cartridge, but if that does not eliminate the error, call your HP support line. If the imaging-drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, you must replace the imaging drum before the printer can continue printing. The imaging-drum light might be blinking by itself or at the same time another light is on or blinking. If another light is also on or blinking, turn the imaging-drum light off in the simulator and turn the other light on or blinking to isolate the condition. The printer has determined that it cannot read or write to the e-label on the imaging drum.Reseat the imaging drum, and then power cycle the printer. If this does not work, replace the imaging drum. If the imaging drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, turn the printer off, and then back on. The light blinking means it's almost used up, when it comes on solid it will stop printing. If your prints still look good you can open the front door and hold the go button til all lights flash, and it will think it's a new drum. You can replace then when print quality gets bad.
The Drum LED blinks if the drum unit is near the end of its life. Use the drum unit until you have a print quality problem, then replace the drum unit with a new one.

Imaging drum e-label reader is faulty (Error 10004)
Light patternDescription
The imaging drum light is blinking, and then printer stops printing. An error 10004 is written to the event log. The imaging drum e-label reader is faulty and the printer cannot detect the imaging drum correctly.
Action
Reinsert or replace the imaging drum.
If the imaging drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, turn the printer off, and then back on.
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with a new imaging drum.
If the problem continues, contact HP Customer Care at http://www.hp.com/support/clj2550 or see the flyer that came in the printer box for other contact information.
If error number 40204 was writtent to the error log, the imaging drum is either empty or missing (I would suspect empty). If error number 10004 was written to the error log, the imaging drum e-reader may have failed. So, in either case, reinsert the imaging drum. If the light continues to blink and the Attention light (exclamation point in a triangle) is not on, turn the printer off and then back on. If this does not clear the error, replace the imaging drum with a new one. Again, if the light continues to blink and the Attention light is off, turn the printer off and then back on.
If the error persists after these steps, let us know and we can persue other options.
To replace the drum, just pull out the toner cartridge from the front, the drum is the part DR-2025 that is connected to the cartridge. Push down the little purple lever and remove the cartridge from the drum.
You have to reset the drum count on the printer after you replace the drum. Call dell tech support they will not charge you for help resetting the drum even if you are not in warrenty.
