What u can try is remove the ink cartridges from the printer. Unplugg and replugg the power cable. Clean the copper contacts of the carts using a dry paper towell. Snap the cart back to the printer and install the cart as the new cart. Print the alignment page and if still have the same issue it might be the issue with the encoder strip. Call Lex Tech Support and get help to fix the encoder strip.

Put brand new lexmark 28 cartridge just 4 days ago. Maybe used 10 times. Computer says ink is low and won't print anymore. However, can still make copies.

It could be just a slight communication failure between your cartridges and the printer. Try to re-seat the cartridges by removing and re-inserting them into the cartridge carrier.
I hope this helps.

X6150 printer worked fine until I was running out of ink. So replaced both 82 and 83 cartridges (new). Then got online help with 50C error message; moistened gold area on both surfaces of cartridges and...

Try to do the Clean Cartridge function using the control panel on your printer. 1. Press Copy. 2. Press Options until Maintenance appears on the display. 3. Press the right arrow until Clean Cartridges appears on the display. 4. Press Select. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles. 5. Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.
If problem continues and it's beyond return period, please contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance.

We tried printing and copying with the setting set at LTR and LTR-R and we checked the paper tray and every time we make a copy or print it prints out the entire document perfectly centered across the...

It seems to me to be a problem of the Blue paper cassette size dial is set wrong. First see what the settings are from the display by pressing the paper select button. Most people have it set for the upper cassette to be LTR ( 8 1/2 X 11 inch paper - length running from front to rear in the cassette ) and the lower cassette to be LTR-R ( 8 1/2 X 11 inch ) or Legal ( paper length running left to right). Check to make sure the blue dial agrees with what's in the cassette. Try doing the testing by putting the paper on the glass first and closing the top. If this is correct and the problem is in the Documnet feeder then one of the raised flags may be broken or the sensor bad. The left one is for letter, the second one for LTR-R or legal and the third is for 11 X 17. The opening and closing fo the side guides also helps to determine paper size. Hope this helps you.

Hi,

You know what, while I was at the lexmark site it dawned on me the the ink you use is almost as much as a brand new lexmark z series printer, man dump the dinosaur and make the plunge. Besides I didn't find any newer printers that had compatibility with 82/83 ink cartridges. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Help!!

Peggie, I recently had the same problem with my printer. your best bet is to install the drivers from the cd that came with your printer. Then go to lexmark to grab the drivers from there web site. install them. A window will pop up and ask you if you want to update driver or make another copy. select make antoher copy and let it install. when done turn on lexmark imaging studio and it will give you a choice of running the original program or the copy, run the copy and there you go no more APP4RE.exe has stopped working. ENJOY!!!!!
