Canon G9 asks for date and time each time turned on even after Canon was supposed to have fixed it twice I was adament about them fixing it as it had not been used for some time after purchsae due to illness. They said they fixed it then it started up again, and they wer supposed to have fixed it the second time when it started up again. Im to sick to send it in and anyway why bother They did do things to the camera dont recall what they replaced etc It started up asking for date and time data again ea time it is turnedon although I keep entering it etc. ANd now it started to whine and make noises a camera just doesnt ever make since they did to it whatever the heck they did. Ruined a great camera

My canon powershot g9 will not turn on

Your camera probably developed a common short that the G9's sometimes get. You'll need to have it serviced and if you go to this site: www.CamerasAndParts.com they service the Canon Powershots exclusively and they are excellent on these models. It's $89 with them and you get parts, labor, servicing for the camera, and most important they perform the no power correction on the camera too. Shipping is included on the way back with them too. For $89 they're tough to beat. They are experts on these models and the only place I'd go for a Canon Powershot. Good luck with yours.

G9 build in flash does not work but external flash will works on my canon g9.

Most of the time you just need to have the flash replaced on the camera. Of course it could be something else. I would say to email them at www.camerasandparts.com They have a service package for your G9 which will fix the problem no matter what is causing it, plus they service up the whole camera for you at the same time. They do top-notch work on these cameras and are much less than most places since they're service packages are a flat-rate.

Canon g9 flickers for a second when turned on, then nothing else appears or happens. Any suggestions?

Camera most likely has a short inside, it happens from loose screws on these cameras. You'll need to get it fixed and it's good to do the correction to the screws inside once repaired. The shop that is great for these is: www.camerasandparts.com They only work on Canon Powershot's and they are wonderful for help with these. For $89, they do the repair, the service on the camera and the internal no power correction at the same time, they even cover the cost of the shipping back. They know these cameras well, if you need help with it, they're great for these cameras. Good luck with the problem on yours.

Canon g9 won't turn on...battery is fully charged....mysteriously stopped working.

These cameras short out inside from a loose screw. The place that a lot of people go for help with this problem is www.camerasandparts.com They just work on the Canon powershot models and they are wonderful for service, about half the cost of most place for about twice the service. The nice thing about them is they do a fix inside the camera so the screw problem won't happen again. They're the place for help with these, lots of luck with it.

Camera Canon A710 IS started to ask set time date when turned on

When the camera is left without power for an extended period of time, the time and date settings are gone. You need to reset them and when you're finished, click the set/ok button twice.

Will not turn on, and battery is good

Lots of people go through this on the G9. Certain screws inside often come loose inside and short out the camera leaving it with no power. A great place to service these is: www.camerasandparts.com All they work on are the Canon Powershots and they do excellent work. It's $89 through them for the parts / labor to fix this, and they service up the camera at the same time when it's being repaired, plus they cover the shipping going back. On the G9's, they also do some correction inside the camera so that the screws don't come loose again inside and cause this problem. If you need to have it fixed, they're the place for this G9 problem.

How do I set up a Canon G9 to display date and time on image.

Press the "play" button to view your photos. Then, press the "display" button until the time/date show up.
If you want them to print out the time and date on the photos, you do this in the "Print Settings" menu. Just press the "menu" button, and then go to the second tab that looks like a printer, then scroll all the way down to "Print Settings..." Press the "Func/Set" button, and then scroll down to where it says "Date: On/Off". Use the directional buttons to select "On" or "Off" and then press teh "Menu" button again.
