Messenger "9" 1st version was in Beta (testing) form. The newest version is not, But it's not working well either. Stick to 8.1 until they work out the Bugs. Including people using 8.1 trying to message ones with 9 or reverse they are having compatibility problems; like text not showing, pictures not showing. It shuts down on Vista users , not allowing people to log in.Web cams do not always work. Many things do not work or are missing that YM 8.1 has. It Seems for Vista users it is so buggy Yahoo is giving up on it and are no longer trying to fix it.http://www.ymessengerblog.com/blog/2008/…
Use this method: Start,My PC, C drive, open Program files.Next open Yahoo file then Messenger file.Click on UNWISE to Uninstall messenger 9 completely. Do not just delete yahoo file as this can cause problems with other Yahoo programs. Your contacts list and messages are stored online and will be there when you return to 8.1 messenger. Another big problem is with the latest update for Flash Player Flash player 10 Does have conflicts, and 9's latest update 9.0.124.0 Can have conflicts with Yahoo(very rarely, if you are using it with no problems keep it) and is causing some Yahoo Messenger services to not load.Use the link below for a download of Flash player #9.0.115.0 It should work as it's the latest before 9.0.124.0 . You have to remove the present flash player,add/remove programs in control panel, then download the older version. http://www.soft32.com/download_500.html.…
You need the following OS to support Messenger 10 beta Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/XP64/Vista64 If that is not a problem read on.
The problem may be due to a mal-function of the uninstall software. Close all programs when uninstalling / downloading and uploading.
Uninstall from the C drive
Start > Computer >> Local drive (C) >> Program Files >> Yahoo >> Messenger >> UNWISE
Unwise is the command to start the uninstall process - click 'Auto' if prompted The Yahoo uninstall software can be problematic you may have old software remaining on the C drive If you have Vista the whole Messenger folder should have been removed during the uninstall. Check - The Messenger folder should have been deleted and not seen. If the Messenger folder is still visible - delete it.
If you have a pre-Vista OS, the Messenger folder remains, and inside, only one sub-folder should be seen. This is the 'Profile' folder and contains all the message history. All other software should have been deleted.
Manually delete any other folders and files before moving on
Download 'ccleaner' and run it through a couple of times.

Re-start your computer and download Yahoo Messenger from here.
Check if there is any Anti Virus running which is blocking the direct installation from server....stop that....or contact your ISP or network admin.....
The error message indicates your operating system is not able to load one of the files required for Yahoo messenger to work.
To make sure Yahoo messenger is installed properly, download the installation files and save them to your desktop.
Once you have the installation file...
Open the control panel and uninstall the existing version of Yahoo messenger. This will remove the program from your computer and clear out the registry entries that were created during the first install of Yahoo messenger.
Reboot your pc and then run the Yahoo messenger installation file you downloaded to your desktop.
The system reboot is a precautionary measure to ensure that none of the files used by Yahoo messenger are loaded into memory during the reinstall.
Use info below to delete present version completely then if you want to try 9 again and are using Vista go here for help.

Messenger 9 for Vista users and XP users with 9, Mess 9 has many unsolved problems and missing features that messenger 8.1 or 8.0 has. Plus now the updated Windows Firewall will not let Messenger download correctly. And is causing 9 users to have problems now.. The only option that might help is going to the control panel and turning off the firewall to download and install then turning it back on.Then click on windows fire wall, Exceptions tab. make sure messenger is checked,if not listed then add it to the list.then click save.
.If the fire wall still causes problems, then revert back to 8.1 or 8.0 these and all versions of messenger can be found here; http://www.freecreed.com/ymsgr-archive.html
You need to remove version 9,or present version, 1st to get another version to work. To remove Messenger version Use Unwise located middle of page of Messenger Folder.Make sure Automatic is checked! then continue to uninstall..Or use control panel ,Vista-program features or XP-add/remove this is the 2nd best way. If you just delete the Yahoo file to remove messenger, you will also lose the shared file that contains things needed on other Yahoo sites. Your contacts are stored online But if you want to save your old messages archives, they are saved on your PC in the messenger file you are about to delete.Go here and copy them to a new folder
Start>my computer>c:drive>program files>yahoo>messenger>profiles>(your ID)>archive>messages
The latest update for Flash Player to #10 Is causing things to not load,Can not log in,or Messenger just crashes upon opening..Use the link below for a download of Flash player # 9.0.124.0 . You have to remove the present flash player,add/remove programs in control panel,Reboot then download from here. http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
You need a special version for Vista if it's not what you tried to install already. It can be found here:
http://messenger.yahoo.com/windowsvista.php
Vista also pops up annoying prompts to confirm every system change, which may cause problems. This is caused by User Access Control, and I can walk you through temporarily disabling it if you can't get the above version installed straight away.
My problem is the same as seven's. When I try to open yahoo messenger, I get a window that says messenger has stopped working. What can I do?
