HP no longer provides support for drivers for this printer. The newer Windows OS will support the printer natively, but sometimes it requires a little finesse from the user. Inkjet printer require both cartridges to be installed and have ink to go online. There is no way to bypass this function. If the printer does not detect the cart when it tries to perform a head clean cycle you get the error you have displayed on the screen. All inkjet printers are like this not just HP.
Hi:
First thing you shold do that HP recommends is to remove AC power from the printer, unplug the printer from the wall for at least 5 minutes before replugging it back in. This will reset the printer, if after doing this and the printer does not come on after hitting the power on button then you may havve a defective control board assembly. In which case it would be cheaper to purchase a new printer as the cost to replace the board would be greater then a new printer..
