I got a used filter queen majestic vacuum at a yard sale and want to fix it up and start with new filters where do i get the filters and how do i change them

Hello,

Well you bought a really great vacuum cleaner. The Filter Queen's are extremely durable and very well made vacuums. They sell brand new for over $2500, so picking one up at a yard sale was a great find by you.

There are several different filters on this model that need to be replaced. Here's a link to a 6 month supply kit that we sell, which contains all the filters needed for a 6 month period:

The only other part that you should be replaced on a regular basis is the belt (only if the vacuum has a motorized power nozzle for cleaning carpets). The belt should be changed every 6 months or so. Even if it doesn't break, these belts will stretch out and not work as well as a new belt would. Here's a link to the belt that will fit your Filter Queen Majestic:

Here's a link to the owner’s manual for a newer Majestic model. This is the only one that is available online. Even though it's a newer model, the maintenance and care will be exactly the same for your model.

I really hope this was the information that you needed. If you have any follow up questions, please don't hesitate to ask them by using the comment box here on the Fixya repair page.

If this did help you, please be so kind and rate my repair helpful, or leave some feedback for me. This is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris Jones

Motor Brush for older model Filter Queen

Is there a Johnstone Supply in your area? How about an ACE Hardware. A vacum repair place? Sewing machine repair place?

If you have the data, ACE or Johnstone should be able to help you. Don't discount other electrical supply places. You will not get help at a big box place.

When I Googled "Filter Queen parts", I found lots of places on the WWW. There must be something close to you.

Give it a try. Let me know if this works for you.

Replacing broken handle on filter queen vacume

It is always best to have a cirtified & Authorized Service Tech or Center do the work and only with genuine Filter Queen parts and supplies. Both can be found at 800-344-1840 or in Iowa 888-637-4692

If a Authorized Tech can not come out,
  1. Always unplug unit from electric outlet.
  2. Remove top like you were changing filters, also the crown.
  3. Remove cap under handle.
  4. Remove 3 screws from SN plate then remove plate.
  5. Seperate upper from lower.
  6. lift cardboard piece and Silencing Filter.
  7. Now you can remove the 4 screw that hold the handle.
  8. Repace handle and reverse the above steps.

Motor

Filter ?Queen Majestic Canister Vacuum – Motor
Motor?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
If your Filter Queen Motor is out or not working, the customer can replace the motor if they are mechanically minded and mark the wires as they remove the old motor with the new motor or you can have it serviced by your local vacuum dealer in your area, you can pickup the motor @ a local vacuum cleaner dealer in you area by checking the yellow pages or to contact the Filter Queen factory listed below. It requires a new motor and a new gasket; the biggest problem would be the wiring of the new motor. The factory information is listed below:
