Same problems - Kitchen-aid microwave goes on by itself, locks, beeps, f2 error - rediculous! 4 of my 5 appliances have problems -big problems. The free standing oven has a "hardly working" keypad and to turn the oven on I have let the broiler heat up,then enter a number for the degrees and to turn it off I have to set the timer! I cannot use the self-cleaning function because the oven door locks and a $$service call and part$$ is required for the oven door to open again! Did I already say rediculous? I meant rip-off! The door hinge on my fancy dishwasher is broken as well. I wonder how long the deep-bruise down my leg will take to heal... Wowww - heavy door!(maybe that means quality?!) The icemaker on the frig lasted about 6 months. I buy bags of ice to put into my fancy/shiny freezer - paid extra for the "reduced depth" model. All bought in September of 2005. And now a wholehearted thank you to Kitchen-aid for their incredible dedication to safety and quality and the ability to squeeze our hard-earned money from us. Oh yes, please note some other threads regarding oven doors and how the glass explodes, for no obvious reason, when hot or room temperature - doesn't matter. Blah, Blah, Blah.... sure like the stainless though...blah!

I'd say you have a contaminated or failing keypad or possibly residue on the boar dor where the keypad connects to the board.

Is it possible that some spray cleaner got into the controls?

I always recommend that users instead spray cleaner on a soft cloth then wipe the control panel.

Also, I always recommend non-ammonia cleaners since ammonia can crack and damage plastic.

Otherwise, the spray can get into the controls and lock it up or make it act odd.

If it does not dry out over time, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.

The keypad may be damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.

SOURCE: Microwave turns on & control panel is frozen. F2&PAN error codes

You have a shorting membrane keypad. If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

On this model, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.

That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number (KHMS155LWH1 without dashes) from the tag on the oven here.

Error code F2

Per the tech sheets (page 8), "F2" error code means "Keyboard failure". Recommended by the manufacturer to replace the touch panel first and, if it would not solve the problem, then the control board has to be replaced too. Not the best recommendation but we have to follow it.

- The part number for the touch panel (aka a membrane switch) is AP3130765

- The part number for the control board AP3130764

Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid microwave Model KHMS155LSS4

Microwave Model KHMS155LWH3 is showing a trouble code F-2 What does it mesn?

F2 is saying the key pad has a problem:
See this tech sheet:
https://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Tech%20Sheet%20-%208205612.pdf

The touch/keypad can be found here: (Item 9) BLACK
http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/microwave-repair/19054-kitchen-aid-microwave-error-code-f2.html
I am assuming yours is white but the model number does not cross for some reason to a white control panel. When I cross it to your model it comes up Biscuit color ITEM 3 here:
($122.18)
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5133020&diagram_id=948095#d948095

I would check to make sure that no keys are stuck by rubbing your 1st finger FLAT across the membranes to unstick them and then check inside the unit to make sure the flexible ribbon connector is properly mated to the control board. Inside the unti there is usually a tech sheet inside the cabinet stored in a 4 X 6 envelope that may give you some insight on the keypad error. It should be Item 1 here as far as location only:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5133020&diagram_id=948095#d948095

Microwave is beeping, lock comes on, F2, just keeps beeping by itself

F2 on a KitchenAid mike usually means a Keypad short. Beware if it is a KHMS155LSS, it can self start on its own with a KeyPad short. A real stunning defect.
