I'm not certain, but I think I may have overloaded the mixer when using it recently and now I've screwed up the tilt alignment on my Artisan KitchenAid Stand Mixer. The entire top part of the mixer that can lock into place, and what you lift up to remove the bowl, is now tilting too low causing the mixer attachments to hit the bottom of the bowl. This is causing the entire mixer jump, vibrate and shimmy til it almost falls off my counter top. I've tried to tighten up some of the screws, and now I think I have just made it worse. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
This may have a simple solution: This sounds like an issue of beater to
bowl adjustment, which can come out of alignment naturally over time
and with use of the machine.
If
the flat beater is striking the bottom of your bowl, this may cause the
locking mechanism to loosen and may cause the mixing head to "bounce"
during use.
Your Use and Care Guide will cover the "beater to bowl adjustment," which you can do at home in a few minutes with a flathead screwdriver.
SOURCE: I can't find out how
On my kitchenaid stand mixer, the lock lever to lift the head is located on the opposite side of the speed control. If there is no lever there, check to see if there is a spot that looks like there should be a lever there, if there is, but the lever is missing, you might have ended up with a mixer with a manufacturing error. In that case, your only option is to take it back to the store where you bought it.

OK,Where the mixer pivots there is an ajustment screw ( Flat head). Place a dime at the bottom of the bowl and make your adjustment carefully ( quarter turn at a time).Using the low speed only, adjust until the tip of the flat beater barely touches the dime. When your done, you'll be back in business.
