I would like to assign macro controls to my Genesis MX900 for a new Sony DVD player. Not an expensive one. Simple player for kids downstairs on our unit. The model on the Sony remote is RMT-D187A and the player is Sony DVP-SR500H. Just want to turn it on through Genesis like my other components. Turn thr player off, fast forward, rewind and pause. I saw the tech guys point the remotes towards each other before but iI know something more was going on. Hope you can help me out.

Hello,

Can you use your remote on other units without any problems? Did it come with a software CD?

Yes. It works great with everything else. Just got a new component and wanted to add it to the remote.

You have to connect the MX900 to your computer in order to program it by using a mini USB cable. You would also need the MX900 editor software. Do you have the software for it?

  • Anonymous Oct 24, 2011

Yeah. The issue is I do not have a CD for it. It was professionally installed. If I had that I would use it with the software provided. 150 for them to come out and program stop, play, pause, rewind and forward. Just thought there was a workaround. Evidently not.

My kid broke the blue optical lens in Sony DVP-FX930 Portable DVD Player. Can i replace the optical lens part from any other dvd drives or is it unique to sony. Please advice.

Portable DVD players are made up of the dvd mechnism, control motherboard and LCD panel. You can buy a defective Sony unit on ebay for parts and replace the dvd mechanism assembly.

Most defective portable dvd players are defective on the control motherboard, just read the defects disclosed on ebay items to decide which one to buy to fix yours.

Lost remote for DVD

It may or may not work. There's no way to program it unless it's a universal remote, and even then you'd need to find the codes. I'd put some batteries in and hit power... if it works it works. Universal remotes aren't expensive though. Pick one up if the old Sony won't work.

Sony dvd player

DVD player will play DVD disk according to assigned region code.
You can see DVD-NS330 region code at rear of player, where model and serial number is written, region code would be written in globe mark.

Got a code c-81 then dvd player won't do anything. Help

A bizarre coincidence but our Sony DVD player DAV C700 did exactly the same when the kids were watching a DVD. All other functions on the system are still working but the DVD player wll not eject or play - and the self diagnosis function C 81 remains illuminated on the display.

Unlocking Sony DVP-FX820 portable dvd

Hello,

Sony has designed this player so it cannot have the region code changed, it is hard wired into the board as part of their copy protection scheme.

Most users have rated this player as 'junk' (sorry to be the bearer of bad news) and should be replaced.

Maybe you can sell it on Ebay.

My suggestion is that the less expensive the player the better off you will be in the long run as the cheaper brands and models use DVD drives meant for PCs and Macs. More expensive models have proprietary drives, such as Sony, and cannot be manipulated and are not very versatile in recording media and or playing copyright hacked copies of DVDs even if you own the original DVD but has been scratched.

The courts are still trying to figure out these protection measures as they are not fair use in terms of you the owner of a DVD and wanting to make your own backup copy for the kids to use.

Regards,
Worldvet
