How to restore your computer to factorysettings without a disk?
If original andfairly new: While Booting Up.

Dell XP = Ctrl+F11
Dell Vista = F8
EEEPC = Esc
Compaq = F11
HP Desktop Vista = F11
Emachine = F10
Acer = Alt+F10

Every manufacture has or uses different Function Key combinations to do a Factory Default Recovery. Also if it didn't come withdisks there is normally a program in the menus to create your own set of recovery CDs. This must be done before you ever putanything on the recovery partition d:, if you used d: for anything you need toremove what you put there or the recovery will not function.(As soon as yourcomputer is turning on press the F10 key and it will take you to the systemrecovery screen, click on the advanced option and click Destructive recoveryand click next. WARNING: before doing this backup anything on your computer youwant to keep pictures, videos, music etc. This will delete everything that didnot come pre-loaded from the factory, so if you have pictures of Aunt Fae'sClass reunion you should probably back those up if you want to keep them.)

I am trying to reset my acer aspire 3680 laptop to factory default... i do alt f10 and click restore to factory settings i get a password box and the hint is tina? idk i tried and cant get it... i cannot...

did u purchase brand new or from someone if its from someone then u need to find them as they might of put password protection if its brand new trying removing all passwords on the accounts on the computer not very technical but ive seen it work before hope this helps

Restore to factory default

Unlike other laptops, Acer notebook/laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer Aspire 4315 to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer Aspire 4315 laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer one to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer Aspire 4315 is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your notebook data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.

Usually there is a factory image stored on the hard drive and you when you restart your system you hold down either the F8 Key or F10 Key and this should start the recovery wizard. Then you should be on your way
