Getting C:31 error codes. Mostly C:31:42 - Sony Handycam DCR-TRV240 Digital Camcorder

The Sony website trouble code sais your Camcorder has a problem and needs a power reset.

The remedy in the SONY troubleshooting guide is copied below.

1. Turn off the camcorder.
2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.

Open Control Panel and then Device Manager (or System, then Device Manager).

Look for a yellow balloon, this should show you which device is giving the Code 31 error.

Then you need to fix the problem by re-loading the driver.

It could be the missing Pinch roller.

Does it try to eject the tape? Try a gentle help on that. The tape may have gotten snarled in the camera.

CODE 12 - BATTERY BEEN DISCONNECTED. CODE 31 - EVAP SOLENOID CIRCUIT. CODE 43 - IGNITION COIL 1 AND 3 PRIMARY CIRCUIT CODE 17 - ENGINE IS COLD TOO LONG REPLACE THERMOSTAT. CODE 42 - AUTO SHUTDOWN RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT.PROBLEM COULD BE ASD RELAY OR YOU HAVE A SHORT IN THE WIRING TO THE ASD RELAY.

C:31:42 indicates that you having a problem with capstan motor. It has to be replaced.

C:31:42 shows following error..
FG fault during normal drum operations.
Its related to drum assembly (video head) in camcorder and possible reason can be drum stuck with some thing, no power to drum motor etc.

this is servo IC problem.
