Is there a better motherboard for the ThinkCentre M51-8143 which supports FSB 1333MHz?

Hello, I just recently purchased an Intel e6750 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo processor to throw into my IM ThinkCentre m51-8143, however I just realized that I cannot simply throw it in because the this Intel processor runs at a FSB of 1333MHz. My current motherboard will not support this CPU. I have searched EVERYWHERE for a motherboard which will go into this case, and supports 1333 FSB. Can someone direct me to a motherboard which will in fact swap directly into this ThinkCentre case and will support an Intel e6750 CPU? (FYI, I have found motherboards that fit the specs, but the case is built BACKWARDS, ie: it opens from the RIGHT HAND side)

If it was me i would be replacing the case as well then you will have no trouble finding a motherboard to suit. Will also be handy for any future work you need to do to computer. I doubt very much your old memory will fit in the new motherboard so why not get your memory upto around at least the 4Gig mark while youre at it. All this really wont cost much and you will have quite a nice computer which looks like new. Cheers from Scott and please vote

Can i put dual core processors in my intel se7505vb2 motherboard?

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/se7505vb2/sb/cs-007399.htm

Page 16 of the Technical Product Specification guide;

3.1.1 Processor Support
"The Intel Server Board SE7505VB2 supports one or two processors in the 604-pin FCPGA package."

-> Socket 604,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_604

-> Intel XEON processors ONLY

"When two processors are installed, all Processors MUST be of identical revision, core voltage, and bus/core speed."

-> Means you really should use two IDENTICAL processors.

"When only one Processor is installed, it should be in the socket labeled CPU1, and the other socket must be empty."

-> Self-explanatory.
That's the processor socket furthest away from the black AGP graphics expansion slot, and closest to the outside edge of the motherboard.
(Page 104, and 105)

ONLY supports Intel Xeon processors with a 400MHz, or 533MHz FSB.

Dual-Core Xeon's start at 667MHz, and wouldn't work anyway; due to different Core architecture, and Instruction Sets.

667MHz, 800MHz, 1066MHz, and 1333MHz, for dual core Xeon's,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_microprocessors#Xeon_.28UP.2FDP.29.2C_Dual_Core_2

(Scroll down just a touch, to get the Wikipedia 'banner' out of the way, or click on it's X)

Scroll down the page, look at the charts. Starts with 800MHz FSB for Dual Core, then goes 667MHz, 800MHz, 1066MHz, and 1333MHz, Front Side Bus.

Use Dual Core processors?

No.

Two Single-Core processors.

My core 2 duo E6550 does not work on my foxconn g41mxe motherboard

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186187

Motherboard supports Processors with a Front Side Bus (FSB) of either 800Megahertz, or 1066MHz.

1333MHz FSB support is done with OVERCLOCKING.

http://ark.intel.com/products/30783/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E6550-%284M-Cache-2_33-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB%29

Intel Core2 Duo E6550 processor has a 1333MHz FSB.

http://www.manualowl.com/m/Foxconn/G41MXE/Manual/297328

I reduced the view size to 120 percent. Go to Page 27.
Press DELete key to enter BIOS Setup.

Use Down Arrow key to highlight - Fox Central Control Unit
Press the Enter key

CPU Frequency Setting should be set to 333 (333MHz)
Intel processors are 'Quad Pumped'
333MHz x 4 = Approximately 1333MHz. (1332)

http://www.foxconnsupport.com/cpusupportlist.aspx?type=mb&socket=Socket%20775&model=G41MXE&cputype=Intel

Note the version of the BIOS program also.

1333 FSB processor ( E6850 ) on a 1066 FSB motherboard, DDR2 667 memory

Hi proenza. you're making good sence! You're D945GCL MB should be able to run 1066 FSB. Not 100% sure you're memory will keep FSB up to 1066.
Here's the trouble though. The Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 will not run on the Intel D945GCL motherboard because it is not supported. Look here at Intel's web site. Supported CPU's.
http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d945gcl

Intel E6850 specs sheet. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Intel-Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6850-Processor-3-0GHz-4MB-Cache-1333MHz-FSB-Conroe-Dual-Core-OEM-Socket-77

Intel E6700 spec sheet. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6700-2-67Ghz

This CPU is supported by the D945GCL MB.
http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d945gcl

Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 Processor BX80557E4700 - 2.60GHz.
$149.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3826343&CatId=2396

In order to get 1066MHz (CPU can run at), you'll also need the memory support at 800MHz. The D945GCL MB can only run DDR2-667MHz.
Many people buy a CPU to run MB's specs (1333MHz) just to find the same MB does not support DDR2-1066MHz or DDR2-800MHz. Motherboard Mfg's are lagging. DDR3-1333MHz is out there now to support the 1333 MHz CPU FSB.

I hope this has helped you make a decision proenza.

Good Luck!

Mike
