I have not repaired this model. My first thought are bad capacitors in the power supply board. If you do have the exact board to replace. I would certainly do so. Numbers check and you say they are the exact same, should be an easy fix. If this board came out of another TV of the same model, you must remember, it will have the same longevity as the board that does not work. I would compare the boards, and look for bad capacitors on the board that does not work of course. You may check the capacitors with an ESR meter (about 50 to 75 bucks). The purchase and price of one of these will pay for itself. You can fix other electronics. Thanks for asking Alan. I'll be here if you have more questions.

Thank you very much. So if replacing SC board will not fix the problem next shoot should be power board? I check already capacitors but without ESR (just visual looks good)

You may have good capacitors in the power supply. In your case, be sure the caps in the power supply are not bulged. I feel the problem is still in the power supply board. But of course in your case do exchange the y-sus. Generally, this board (y-sus) will control your vertical picture. Top half or bottom half, you will experience half a screen.

try to reconnect all connectors inside your TV,if the problem persisted try to check the power supply output 15vdc while the TV is on..Let me know what is the reading of 15v output..you need a multimeter tester (range in dc)..Also trace the board where the 15vdc connected and try to disconnect the supply to it then check again if the voltage stable for 15vdc..

Thank you for using fixya..

I have the 50 inch panasonic for only 12 months and have red light blinking 7 times

Hi, one of three boards are the culprits. SC, SU and SD boards. (Y sus and the drivers). Possibly but very very rare, the panel could have blown those boards out.

Just bought panasonic th-42x20k, when turn on hear a clicking sound and then turn off, red light under screen flashing 7 times

Red light flashing indicates that "SC voltage is floating". I'd recommend replacing the SC, SD and SU boards. Also know as the Y sustain (SC), Upper and lower buffer boards (SD, SU).
I suggest you contact your local Panasonic Service Agent as parts are only available from Panasonic and are quite expensive.

Panasonic th-42pz77u has no picture.power light (red) flashes 7 times

seven blinks on this model is the SC board. it will need a new SC board and the software update for the new board. usually only authorized servicers have the software need to do the upgrade. but if you were to contact panasonic then they might be able to have it fixed for you for free since this was a defect in manufacturing. of course this depends on how long you have had the tv.

Panasonic th-42pz77u 42ed

Pin 93 of the MPU IC9003 monitors the status of the SC, SU, SD board. During normal operation, the photo-coupler PC6480 outputs a low to pin 93. If the SC, SU, or SD board becomes defective, a high is provided to pin 93. As a result, the unit shuts down and the power LED blinks 7 times.
