I have PS2 slim, and it works perfectly but I somehow messed up its display
options. With most games i notice no effect, but when I play FIFA 08 or Fifa
street 2 i notice that the bottom part of my screen is missing. Also when i try
to see the options from the browser the bottom part is missing. I tried to
delete the options file and to start the ps2 without a memory card with no
results, it seems that these options are stored somewhere on the console
itself.
I really hope you can help with this, I am becoming desperate
especially that the new FIfa is due to come out soon and this will ruin the
whole experience...

the PS2 does not have a wifi adapter native to the console. but if im missing something and you are just wanting to change the network password because you have the network adapter already or the slim PS2 which has the built in ethernet socket the PS2 manual states 'Put in Play Station 2 network disc' this should have the settings option on it to update the password.
Yes I see your problem!
1)Did You Drop the ps2 at all?
2)Maybe Your using the wrong disk...(like old ps1 or copied ps2 games)
3)Maybe it just stopped working...if You got it recently go get it exchanged or fixed(check the warranty)...
4)if it doesnt turn on then its most likely broken or messed up...
5)if the game doesnt work it may be scratched or need to be cleaned
6)clean the ps2!get a computer/game console sprayer...
7)they also have cd cleaning devices that get rid of the scratches (not too big or long though)
i have encountered these problem with my slim ps2 many times before... the solution for your problem is very easy......
when you insert your disk in your slim ps2 you must hear atleast three quick click sounds, theis sounds represents the cd has been locked in into the driver, to be able to check if it has already locked touch the top part of the cd pertaining to the center part once youve touched it feel if there is no unbalanced portion... if no your ready to play...... if yes reinsert it until you hit the right angle..... these takes a lot of practice just to do it safe for the console and the person..... enjoy...................
After countless hours of tying to figure this out I went to the basics. This ps2 slim has 3 sensors and after all sensors are the key to making the machine work properly. After testing everything known to man I decided to go around the sensors by taping them all down. Low and behold when I cranked the ps2 slim up the disc now reads and plays perfectly.
Hi Raven,
Its sounds like you have a PS2 Slim with a melted Laser. What you will find is that the Slim will only read CD's, CDR's, PS1 Games, Blue back PS2 games and DVD's. I can repair this for $35 plus shipping to and from The Playstation Clinic in Fountain Inn, SC. The webpage is www.playstationclinic.com If you do not have a Slim, you either have dirty disc, or Lens. You may have left some fibers from the Q-tip across or around the lens.
Hi NateQ,
Sorry about no one paying attention to your problem for so long.
I just got started about a month ago. I have been repairing video Game consoles for over a decade though.
Your problem is that your slim has a melted down laser and lens assembly. The unit is dirty. You will need a new disc drive and a thorough cleaning to get it back in service.
The problem about the power light is due to excessive dust buildup shorting out the components on the motherboard. The video output is also comprimised by dust and dirt.
The disc spinning is possibly comprimised by hair wrapped around the disc drive spindle.
If you want, I can thoroughly detail clean your PS2 slim and replace the disc drive for $38 plus shipping both ways.
