Need codes for my vt-290 remote control for the tv

Found a link to download the manual for the remote. The instructions walk you through doing an automatic code search. If that is unsuccessful, there is a web address that is supposed to give you a full list of all the codes.

Do any experts know the answer to this question? It has been posted multiple times, but I dont' see any answers! It is a pitiful manual that is provided by Yamaha for this purpose and nothing is intuitive about making this work. If anyone know the answer, PLEASE POST IT!

I own this remote. Here are the instructions.
1 turn on your tv or catv
2 aim remote at tv or catv
3 while holding tv or catv button press 0 to 9 last ch 100/ent or channel
4 release both buutons when tv or catv changes channel.
note press tv or vcr or catv button first to select desired function
