Can I connect my Casio CTK 731 to a computer and record song files I have saved in a floppy disc?? My pc has no floppy drive and I don't know if I can directly record midi files or Casio song files to either Audacity or Ableton live which I have installed.

SOURCE: not able to connect to USB MIDI of my Casio CTK 810i

On reading specs, use of the USB is NOT supported on a MAC or on other than the 32 bit version of Vista. If you happen to have the 64 bit Vista, it won't work. All the other versions of Windows seem to be supported..

SOMETIMES one must install the software BEFORE connecting the USB cable to the unit. SOMETIMES one must install the drivers in SAFE MODE. These things are ridiculous, but some of the quirks of Windows are stupid.

SOURCE: Can't get Casio CTK 601 / 611 to function as MIDI Contrller

I'm not at home right now where all my manuals are so I'll try to explain with out. You will have to set it so that the keyboard is the slave device. Try setting it to Omni receive. It has to be able to listen for all midi channels at once. You have to write a sequence on your computer and hook it to your keyboard by using midi out on the computer to midi in on the keyboard in order for you to use the computer as a controller. If you need the keyboard to create the sequences then you have to hook the midi send on the keyboard to the midi in on the computer play/enter your notes into individual tracks in your software then assign channels, voices etc to each track and save the sequence. Then when you hook it up the other way the sequence will play just like an audio recording except the sound w2on't be there. What you have recorded by creating a sequence is a series of midi messages that the keyboard will receive if you have it set properly and hooked up ptroperly which it will translate into sound. This is a minimalist explanation at best. You will have to have a better understanding of not only your keyboard but also your software and midi in general. There are some pretty amazing things you can do with midi. For instance if you have a lighting controller that is midi capable you can i,mbed all the lighting scene changes for your song in order on one track. You can also control your guitar effects pedal to change effects automatically while your playing. Once you get a handle on it you are only limited by your imagination and your budget. Hope this helps in some way.

SOURCE: Casio ctk-496 claims to be midi keyboard controller

Try downloading MidiOx and troubleshooting with it. It will show you if you have any midi activity and which channel your Casio is transmitting on etc.

SOURCE: Casio CTK 810 with Windows 7

Hello,

You need a midi to usb interface, otherwise it is quite simple. I personally have an M-Audio interface that plugs into my midi out and plugs into your usb port on your computer. Once done, you can create a profile in Reason for your CTK. Windows 7 will notice the M-Audio device and then you will be able to use midi. You may have to install a specific driver for the particular M-AUdio device (or another midi to usb interface) but that is simple. You do not have to worry about a driver for the keyboard.

In my experience, M-Audio makes about the best midi/usb interface, and they come in all popular configurations. I use a very small 1-to-1 interface, though there are multi port interfaces one can buy. I purchased mine on eBay, though you can find them at Guitar Center if you have one in your City, or alternately Musiciansfriend.com web site. Many online stores sell them though. You amy want to use Amazon or a price comparison web site to find your best deal.

Thank you for using FixYa, and good luck.

SOURCE: I have Casio Ctk-496 and

Casio Chord is internal to the keyboard and doesn't come out on MIDI. Transpose is similar and while the button may send a MIDI transpose type signal out, the notes will not transpose in your computer...

How to upload music to Casio CTK-4000 Keyboard

If your computer has a SD card reader, you can use a 2GB or smaller SD card. Format the SD card using the CTK4000. Drop tje music into "MUSICDAT" folder.
If you connect to PC using a USB cable, you need to download DATA MANAGER from Casio website. DATA MANAGER allows you to copy files from computer to keyboard.

HOW DO I RECORD MY VOICE ON THE CTK-900 CASIO KEYBOARD?

Not according to the manual. It was not made that simple.

However, there are a few ways you can produce a recording of the music with your voice. Either mixing with the PC or Mac sound program, or using the output of the keyboard into a suitable mixer with preamp so you can get your levels correct- then record the output of the mixer to computer, or to tape.

Audacity is a wonderful little Sourceforge program to consider using along with the suite of programs and widgets Casio includes with the 900.

Keyboard not powering up. Want to change the fuse/s. Don't know where fuse is located.

There probably is NOT a fuse and usual cause is problem with the adapter or the power connectors. Broken solder of the connector in the keyboard is common. Broken cords on the adapter is common as well.

I have the a Casio Keyboard that has an SD slot, but whenever i put songs on my SD card & then plug it into the keyboard, it says that there is an ERROR . What am i supposed to do . Step by Step . to...

Does it say ERR NO FILE? If so, then read on. The reason you have this error is because you don't have a folder on your sd card named MUSICDAT. Solution:
  1. Insert your sd card into computer
  2. Make folder called MUSICDAT.
  3. Then, transfer all files inside the folder (make sure your songs are in MIDI format).
  4. Safely remove your sd card.
  5. You're ready to put it in you Casio Keyboard!
If you still get the error, take time to read you manual. Read the "using the sd card" part. The folder name might be different for your Casio Keyboard (because mine's a CTK-5000).
...and IF you still get the error, perhaps the songs you meant in your question are MP3 songs (like the ones you play on the iPod)? Then, that's a different topic... :)
Well then, good luck!

I have connected my casio to pc but pc songs and piano sound is not hearing in pc how it will work if any driver will use tell me about that i have casio ctk-2100 electronic keyboard

ASSUMING you have a MIDI interface connection, (not audio) then you need to set the PC to use a general MIDI sound and turn on the synth in the PC.

Go to control panel and open the sound icon. Select the device to use for MIDI playback in the appropriate section.

Casio CTK-651 keyboard wont switch on

An internal fuse is UNLIKELY.

More likely is either a bad connection/connector at power input or a bad or intermittent power switch.

How do i recod on the ctk-900 casio?

Try running a line out from your keyboard to the line input on your mac. Go into system preferences, select sound, click the input bar in the upper right corner, select line in/Audio line-in port, then adjust your input volume. You should then be able to record from your keyboard. If this doesn't help you, please let me know. I'm a recording engineer that uses a MacBook for all my multi-track recording projects. Thanks & good luck. Mark
