It's possible that the convergence IC's may be bad in this set along with a few resistors. A TV repair shop should be able to fix the set for you.

The most common problem for those symptoms are convergence amps. That unit takes two stk392-040 Sanyo Ics and will most likely require that several low ohm resistors (3.9 ohm-2w) be tested and possibly replaced.. There is one last thing also, a pico fuse at Fd102 (3.5a) that sometimes opens and would need to be replaced..
The convergence board in these is easily removed, so an in-house service call could be done...
Hope this helps

Hello Chac c,
The reason that you are getting a 'red light' is because your lamp is burned out. There is a panel on the back of the TV that gives you access to this lamp. You can remove it and check the part# to be sure then replace it. I did a quick search for you just based on the model# which you provided. You can see it here - http://www.nextag.com/serv/main/buyer/OutPDir.jsp?search=samsung+lamp&gg_site=&gg_aid=1295966762
Hope this helps :)

Pull out the plug for the TV and leave it out for one hour at least. Plug it back in and it should be ok. It will re set itself.
