Have you done a search to ensure its definitely not there? sometimes depending on what view format you have chosen, contacts may be a long way down the list due to the "file as" setting you selected. "File as" has several default settings such as "surname, christian name" or "Company, surname, christian name" and if you choose different selections for your contacts, then they won't sort in a logical list.

Try to search using the "type a contact to find" box up in the tool bar above your contacts and see if it is actually there. Then check what the "file as" setting is on and change it if its different to your other records.

The list of contacts is empty in OE 6

I know that when a large number of entries in the address book in OE (more than 999) contacts disappear. Check the number of contacts and liberate the place.
If with number of contacts everything is normal then it is necessary to restore them through Address Book Restore Toolbox. Here it is possible to find it http://www.addressbook.restoretools.com/
If nothing helps, then read the forum and look for there advice

Erase former owner's contacts from my mac

One way to remove your son's contacts is to create a new user account with administrator privileges, switch to that account, then delete your son's account. You have the option of deleting all of his documents as well as his user info.
The method for importing your contacts is dependent on how they are stored now. If you are moving from another Mac and have your contacts stored in Address Book, you can create an export file (File:Export>Address Book archive) and save it to a USB drive, connect the drive to your newer Mac, open Address Book and select the appropriate Import option from the File menu. If your contacts are in a different application, look for a method to export them to a plain text, LDIF, or vCards file.
If you want more detailed information on exporting addresses from a Windows computer, switch to the Finder on your Mac, go to the Help menu and type in the search word import. The first entry may be "Transferring your address book from a Windows computer."

When creating a new email in Outlook 2007, if I click on the "To" button to pull up an address from my Contacts they are alphabetized by First Name. How can I get them listed by Last Name?

To setup up contacts by the person's last name. In Outlook, when you compose a new message, and then click the To or Ccbutton, the Contacts list may display names that are sorted by the contact's first name. Here's how you can change the list to display entries by the contact's last name.
Sort the Contacts list by the File As field
  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the Tools menu, click E-mail accounts.
  3. Click View or change existing directories or address books, and then click Next.
  4. Click Outlook Address Book, and then click Change.
  5. Under Outlook Address Books, click Contacts: Mailbox -YourMailboxName, and then under Show names by, click File As (Smith, John).
  6. Click Close, and then click Finish.
Verify that the newly created contacts are filed in last name, first name order
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Preferences tab, and then click Contact Options.
  3. In the Default "File As" order list, click Last, First.
  4. Click OK twice.
  5. To view the new Contacts list sort order, restart Outlook.
NOTE If you want to display a particular contact in a different order than the rest of the Contact list, you can modify the File As field in individual contact cards. For example, you may want to sort some contacts by the Company field.

How to sync palm desktop to iphone without using outlook

Bring up Palm Desktop. Make sure your Palm phone is synced up. Show the Address page, select all contacts (Ctrl-A), and export them with File, Export vCard. This puts all contact information into a single file as a sequence of vCards.

Bring up Windows Address Book. You can find this in Start, All Program, Accessories, Address Book.

Using Windows Explorer, drag the vCard file you created in step 1 to the Windows Address Book window. I had never used Windows Address Book, so it was empty. If yours isn't empty, you'll have to decide whether you want to merge your contacts.

When you drop the file, you'll get a window asking you to confirm the first contact. Press OK. Another window will come up for the second contact. Press OK until all windows are gone. It's easiest to hold down the Enter key.

Bring up iTunes with your iPhone plugged in. Go to your iPhone page, to the Info tab, and configure it to sync from Windows Address Book. Click Apply in the lower-right corner of the window.

Sync your iPhone. Verify that your contacts transferred over.

Tell iTunes to stop syncing with Windows Address Book, since you probably only wanted a one-way sync. Your contacts will be backed up anyway by iTunes, so the Address Book sync feature doesn't buy you much.

Download palm phone directory to apple to apple i phone contacts

My wife and I just bought an iPhone and wanted to transfer our contacts from our Samsung i500 Palm phone. All the instructions I found online suggested going through Outlook, but that didn't work for me for a variety of reasons. I found this other method that worked really well.
  1. Bring up Palm Desktop. Make sure your Palm phone is sync'ed up. Show the Address page, select all contacts (Ctrl-A), and export them with File, Export vCard... This puts all contact information into a single file as a sequence of vCards.
  2. Bring up Windows Address Book. You can find this in Start, All Program, Accessories, Address Book.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, drag the vCard file you created in step 1 to the Windows Address Book window. I had never used Windows Address Book, so it was empty. If yours isn't empty, you'll have to decide whether you want to merge your contacts.
  4. When you drop the file, you'll get a window asking you to confirm the first contact. Press OK. Another window will come up for the second contact. Press OK until all windows are gone. It's easiest to hold down the Enter key.
  5. Bring up iTunes with your iPhone plugged in. Go to your iPhone page, to the Info tab, and configure it to sync from Windows Address Book. Click Apply in the lower-right corner of the window.
  6. Sync your iPhone. Verify that your contacts transferred over.
  7. Tell iTunes to stop sync'ing with Windows Address Book, since you probably only wanted a one-way sync. Your contacts will be backed up anyway by iTunes, so the Address Book sync feature doesn't buy you much.

OR

Sync your palm to outlook, then sync your outlook to your iPhone. It'll grab the outlook contacts and calendar.
