Cintiq 12wx cursor crash

Hello,

i use a cintiq 12 wx on a windows vista pc.
my problem: cursor and keys fail to respond after some time.

i'll pe painting - sometimes for hours, sometimes for minutes - and suddenly the cursor stops responding. when i touch the screen with the pen tip the blue LED in the top left corner lights up but the cursor no longer moves, nor do the buttons respond (such as switching between screens).

when i switch the screen off and on again, the mouse will again respond but now it's completely out of sync with the pen, moving all over the place (both monitors) and appearing to follow now logic whatsoever; and the express keys still don't respond.

the drivers no longer start up, either.

the only way to get the cintiq to work again is to restart the computer - only for it to give up again far too quickly.

Really irritating!!

any ideas?
