We have a Jenn-Air CCE3401B that is shot. The diagrams say it used 120/240 volts and 7.0 kilowatts, but we can't find how many amps were used. We now want to buy a new cooktop, but don't know if our same wiring will work. The one we want says it uses 40 amps; 240/208 volts and 8.3 kilowatts. Help!

Hello,

240 volts,8,300 watts would calculate to amp draw of 34.5 amps and thusly a 40 or 50 amp circuit is reccomended

soory it took me so long to respond to ya i didn't see the notice of the notice in my inbox of this comment...i would say its very easy in fact i think ya wont have to do anything and what ya have already existing to the current cooktop will work fine with the new cooktop all ya need to do is check in your house breaker panel at the number on the breaker for the cooktop and it will have the amps right on the part ya would reset if it were tripped and ya had to reset it...if that number is either 40 or 50 its fine and will work just fine with the new cooktop....GENE

I used my grill for the first time, & the downdraft didn't work we'll, the house filled with smoke & eventually the downdraft shut off and I had to finish cooking in a pan. My Jenn-Air is...

The downdraft is electric so there must be something malfunctioning with it. It is a high volume downdraft fan that is to be vented to the outside. Could it be that something has clogged the vent hole up, not allowing the fan to evacuate the smoke?

While I am not a big fan of Jenn-Air, their fans are usually high quality if they are installed correctly, with the proper vent lines.

I have a Jenn Air radiant glass cooktop, model CCE3401B. The left rear burner will not heat. Howver the indicator light under the control knob stays on continuously, regardless of the position of the...

If the light circle around the knob stayed on, then you have the same problem I just had. I purchased a OEM replacement switch via ebay for $38. Very simple replacement, but take your time so you understand how it works. It took an hour to install and works fine now. Here is the link to the parts list:
shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair Part List - CCE3401B.pdf

If you can, take pictures with your phone of how everything is assembled before you take it apart. It will save you hours of aggravation.

I must say, Jenn-Aire (Whirlpool Corp) was less than helpful. I asked for some advice prior to purchasing the replacement part and all they would tell me is they were willing to schedule an authorized repair shop to come over. The closest was a 2.5 hour drive each way, and the travel time cost was $85/hour. Plus the part at list price ($90 something) and installation was going to cost $600. Give me a break.

We have a jenn air outdoor cooktop. The right side didnt work so we took apart and blew circut breaker. Now we are trying to re wire but dont know where the green ( ground) connects. Canyou please help?

Hi, depending on your local electrical code:and I see that the unit is 240 Volts A.C., then RED=Power/Black=POWER(L1 & L2)/WHITE="N"Neutral/and GREEN=SAFETY GROUND,on the new unit, then use from the wall power BLACK = L1 and White= L2. then on the unit RED=L1 and BLACK=L2(either way you hook these 2 up there isn't a polarity issue on these 2 wires) on the units hook-up/then use the BARE supply wire as neutral and tie BOTH WHITE and GREEN from the unit together to this BARE wire..

Take care

Circuit Braker Jumps Off

You probably have a burnt out element. They almost always short out when they burn out. If it is a coil unit it may be visible. A smooth top unit can't be diagnosed without removing the top glass. Most of the time you can do this yourself. Sometimes when a burner goes it will ruin the switch also.
