I drove it this a.m. approx. 2 miles and it started fine. I went out about 40 min. later and it would not start

Possible starter failure if the engine doesn't crank. You can try tapping on the starter motor using a blunt object while turning the key to see if it starts. If it starts, suspect a defective starter motor. If it is a manual transmission, you can push start it in gear
When you turn the key on the ASD relay should turn on the fuel pump and power the injector, Do this lets cheat the system go to the ASD rely open the cover expose the inside have some one turn the key on does the ASD make contact? If not turn the key on collpase the ASD so it make contact do you hear the fuel pump come on? Now try this just as how you iopen the ASD do the same to the starter relay. Put the car in gear e brake on someone in the vehicle in case the car start and you are in front of it and it runs you over so at least they step on the brakes. Key on ASD exposed as your collapse the starter relay does the ASD relay turn on? Here why if you can control all the relay from under the hood you will need a ignition switch (the eletrical part)
jonboy; I had the same problem. Check the wire in the terminal on the starter. That terminal is not crimped well enough around the wire. It is pretty hard to get to, but removing the air cleaner and battery helps. When the PT won't start, have someone get ready to turn the ignition switch to start, reach down the left side of the battery (facing it) And give those 2 red wires (about the size of a lead pencil) hard yank just after your helper turns to start. You'll pull them out of a snap in wire holder, (which you can put back later when it is repaired). This should put the wire to the starter in a bind thus letting it start. You may see some sparks as the contact is made, or if loose enough, pull the wire out of the terminal. If this happens, you found the problem. Hope this solves your problem. mikeselectric
Don't try start the engine when the oil light turn on, it would harm your piston, camshaft and crankshaft It should be the oil pump has broken and need to replace, tow your car to the nearest service center
It is possible that you have a weak battery. You may want to try to jump the car with another car that is idling. If you get the car started then it is a weak battery. If not inspect the wiring especially for the ignition and the high tension wires.
Check the battery terminals for corossion. Look for the chalky white powder which is a tell tale sign. Simply move the cable connectors back and forth a few times to loosen corossion and provide a better contact. Have you checked your fuses. I probably spelled corossion wrong, sorry.
