You go to the dictionary menu on your phone and click download dictionary. (it will incur data charges for the internet) you will be directed to the built in browser that will go to the page samsungapps (something like that. i cant recall). then there'll dictionary choices that will be displayed. choose which one do you need. just click until that and then when you are directed to the next page click download. then once it start downloading, you can monitor the downloading progress by clicking the 3 dots "...", then choose download manager. wait for it to be completely download (will take quite long so be patient ^_-). once it finished downloading, a notification at the top of the screen will appear with a white exclamation point inside a red circle that says the download was finished. click it to view that notification and then you'll see install. click on it and exit the web browser. go back to the dictionary menu and choose the dictionary language you downloaded and click set and install. wait (won't take long this time) and here you go! the dictionary is back!
i am soo frustrated when i accidentally deleted my dictionary so i never ceased finding a way to have it back. too bad i cant find the right solution over the internet which says you have to reset your device by doing this or that etc. so i decided to find it out myself, and im happy i made it! hope this works for you too! :))
Easy way to restore Dictionary in Samsung GT-S3850 Corby 2
You need only: 1. Your Corby phone memory space at least 7mb (in Phone, not memory card) 2. Internet Access.
You can download dictionary from your phone Menu/Dictionary/Download a Dictionary, choose dictionary (Corby 2 Dictionary built in is English to English) then download it,.. Downloading..... Wait until the notice comes out from the top of the screen "File Downloaded", tap on notice and install, go back to your dictionary in phone menu, tap on English to English and Set, Well done.
If you already download/installed but nothing's happen, just follow the 3 steps below.
1st. Make sure to DELETE the ".dic" file that you've download to your phone (dictionary file name contains CollinsEng*.dic) can be found/restore in "My Files/Others". It was hidden, but it can be shown and never be hidden again once you restart your phone. So you better check again and delete the file if you found it.
2nd. You need to use the system Defualt theme. (if you're using other/downloaded themes, go to "My Files/Themes/Defualt theme.smt" and set to change ur theme to default).
3rd. Set your "WAP downloads defualt memory" to Phone. (located at "Settings/Memory/Defualt memory - WAP Downloads set to Phone , not in memory card, because the dictionary need to be saved in phone)
After the 3 steps, Try again to download a dictionary. (How to process? ...just read above)
You can revert the changes of your phone after installing dictionary.
