I have a uniden 5.8GHz serial number XFY706 and cannot find where to turn the volume on the ringer down or put it on DND. I tried the menu, tried hitting the ringer on the answering machine and turning the volume on that down but it didnt work. I have looked for the manual but dont remember ever having one. Bought it at London Drugs.

Without the model number of your Uniden phone, I don't know which silencing feature you are dealing with.

Some Uniden handsets have a Silent Mode. To toggle this on and off, press and hold the # key (below 9) for 5+ seconds when the phone isn't in use. When the silent mode is enabled, the handset will ask for a length of time for the 'no-ring' option. If no key is pressed, then the Silent Mode will continue until the # key is held again.

Other Uniden phones have Do Not Disturb. The button to enable/disable this will be on the cordless phone base. The answering system will automatically turn on and none of the handsets will ring when this feature is enabled.

You can also set the ringer volume to zero. Depending on the phone, you can reset this by pressing the volume up/down buttons or going through the menu. Look for the Ringer Volume in the same section of the menu as the Ring Tone options.

Without the model, I can't be sure of the method you need to enable the ringer.

Some Uniden phones toggle on a Silent Mode if you press and hold the # key (below 9 on the keypad) for 3+ seconds on one handset. When turned on, the phone will ask how long (1-9 hours) you want the ringer to be disabled for the handset. If no key is pressed within 5 seconds, the handset will not ring until the # key is pressed and held again.

Other Uniden phones have a Do Not Disturb mode. This disables the ringer on all handsets.To disable this, press and hold the DND button on the base. The answering system will be turned on if it isn't already on when DND is in use.

The other options to mute the ringer include the volume down on the handset when the phone is in standby. Some phones will also adjust the ring tone volume in the menu.

There are two possible reasons for the handsets not to ring when they are functioning properly. 1) You have the ring volume set to off. This would be done on each handset. With the phone in standby, press the volume up button until you reach the desired ring volume.
(There are 4 volume levels.)
2) You have toggled on the Do Not Disturb feature; this will apply to all of the handsets when started on one handset. Press and hold the # key (below 9) on a handset that is in standby. You should release the key when the phone stops showing the DND symbol. You can actually set the length of time in hours for the DND feature by pressing a number key (1-9) when the screen shows a prompt. If you don't press a number key within 5 seconds, the DND remains on until you press and hold the # key again.

If neither of the above solutions work, you need to check that the base is receiving calls properly. Check if a different phone (preferably a basic wired phone) rings properly when you get an incoming call. If another phone doesn't work, you'll need to check your wiring. If another phone works, contact Uniden if the XDECT8015 is under warranty.

With the phone in standby mode (not talking, not doing something in the menu, etc), press vol-up or vol-down. The phone will sound the different ring tones at different volumes. To turn the ringer off,
select "Ringer Off". When the phone sounds the ring tone and volume you wish to use, press the end key.

To change the ringer volume, while in standby mode (not on a call, not doing anything in a menu, etc) press Up(+) or Down(-) on the base or press up or down on the circular cursor pad on the handset.

The date and time should be set automatically the first time an identified call comes through. If you need to change it, press MENU/SELECT on the handset then select "Day & Time". Select the day of week, then use the number keypad to enter the hour and minutes in HHMM format (e.g., enter 0345 for 3:45). Then, select AM or PM.

Examine the base of the Uniden cordless phone. Locate the "DND" button on the main base of the phone.The DND button means do not disturb and it puts the phone in silent mode when pressed

Reactivate the ringer by pressing the "DND" button again. All the handsets will ring when someone calls you.

Press the "Menu" button on the handset. This button is also the "Star" (*) button.

Press the right "Volume" button to browse through the menu. When the display shows "Setup HS," press the "Menu" button again.

Press the right "Volume" button until you see "Ring Volume." Press the "Menu" button to enter the ringer menu.

Press the left and righ "Volume" button to turn up or down the ringer volume. The default volume level is "L3." Press the "Menu" button to save your change.

hello. To turn the ringer off on that phone you need to get into the menu. The way you get into the menu is press and hold the menu/cid button for 2 seconds. Then press the arrow down button until you highlight the ringer volume. once the ringer volume is highlighted, press the select/channel button. that will rotate you through the 3 available volume levels. High, low and off. as you are pressing the select/channel button the handset sounds a sample of the volume level. when you hear the volume level you want simply press end and that will store your volume to the off position. to turn it back on, just repeat the above steps but select the proper volume level you want and then hit end. The do not disturb feature (DND) allows you to mute the ringer, the base, and any registered handsets at the same time. The phone must be in standby mode. Press and hold do not disturb on the base. You will hear a confirmation tone, and the DND LED illuminates. To cancel the DND feature, press do not disturb again. You can also mute the ringer tone while the phone is ringing by pressing do not disturb on the base.
Activating the DND while the answering system is off will turn the answering system on automatically. The answering system setting will reset to the original setting when you cancel the DND.
If you press answer on/off when the DND and the answering system is on, both of the DND and the answering system will turn off.
To mute the ringer tone temporarily for each handset or the base, when the phone is ringing, press the MUTE soft key on the handset or the base. The ringer tone will return to the previous setting starting with the next incoming call.
