HP LaserJet 9500hdn Printer Logo

We just changed the drum and cartridge on our HP9500. The prints now have about a 2" strip of black toner along the edge. What should we do? It now says replace cleaning cartridge, could that be our problem?

Never heard of a "cleaning cartridge". Couldn't find one in the service manual.
There is a cleaning kit(C8554A).
The cleaning blade might not be latched, that will cause the problem you describe.
Remove the 'waste toner bottle'. Push the blue handle down. Pull out the transfer cleaner(cleaning blade) and reseat it. It is included in the cleaning kit.

Good luck.

Printed pages have streaks vertically along edge

Sounds like the end seals in the cartridge are bad. Remove the cartridge and see if there is toner built un inside printer. Also look at the drum on the cartridge to see if it has black lines that line up with the pirnt defect you are seeing. Try a new toner cartridge and run about 50 pages through.

We have a CLP-300 Series A laser printer which we really like. The problem we are having has recently surfaced after we changed the BLACK toner cartridge. There are skips and light area in the printing...

I think you should contact the manufacturer or vendor who sold you the cartridge. The standard warranty is 90 days. I believe that it will prove to be a bad toner/ drum (which are the same thing for this printer.)
Besides that you can do a "half-test". Stop the print job half way by opening a cover during the print process, before it is transfer to the paper and fused. Look at the drum or transfer belt and see whether the defect exists early in the print process.
There may also be a contact problem with the black toner. Check for bent metal on the toner, or chassis that should mate and conduct charge to the toner.

Changed the drum & ink cartridge in HL-1440-ink bleeds on edge

Hi there,

This problem is often caused by spilled toner. Open the printer, carefully remove the cartridge, and give it a few bursts of compressed air. Often running several pages or type through will also fix this. If it persists, replace the toner cartridge.

Hope this initial info/idea helps. Let me know for any clarifications.

Black edge on one side of printing

90% of the time this is your toner cartridge. Remove cartridge. Turn it over and slide open the protect plate. You will probably see the same "dark edge" of toner on the drum. You can verify by changing the cartridge. Even if you have an old one laying around you can shake up and try to see if the edge goes away.

Dell 3100cn printer leaves a blank strip

The following table should help

Contamination in the laser path - 1. Clean the laser path. (Remove the laser/scanner assembly and clean the lens.) 2. Replace the laser/scanner assembly

Defective fuser - Replace the fuser assembly.

Lack of toner or faulty toner cartridge - Redistribute the toner in the toner cartridge. If the problem continues, replace the toner cartridge.

Dirty Corona Wire - Clean the Corona Wire.

Defective Drum - Mostly applies to B&W printers. Clean the drum or replace the drum.

Samsung scx5315f printing black smudge along edge of page

The fact that it's printing anything suggests that it is not a Toner problem. Remove the toner, and have a look at the run inside the printer, checking for any excess toner which is in there. Also, check the Drum and Imaging Unit for damage, wear and tear etc. There will also be a static strip near the imager, with a little tab which you can sweep across the unit to clean it.

Black smudge marks along left side edge of paper.

Its probably a defective toner. If the film on the toner drum is scratched it can cause toner to stick to the drum everytime it spins causing the constant marks.
