Turn it on press anything that would make a sound is the display go fix itit wont even turn on check the charger and battery if nothing works theres not much that you can do other than sell it for pieces ;)

    Thanks - nothing happened when I turned it on, and battery checked OK a couple of days ago. However, I have solved the problem (I hope) by doing a hard reset - taking out the battery while it was connected to the recharger then replacing it - didn't know you could do it with BBs. May be selling it for parts yet if it acts up again....

Instructions for unlocking Blackberry Pearl 8120

1. Ensure a SIM Card is inserted

2. Go to 'Manage Connections'

3. Click on 'Turn All Connections Off'

4. Go to 'Options'

5. Click on 'Advanced Options'

6. Click on 'SIM Card'

7. Type 'MEPPD' (letters will not appear on-screen but a menu will pop up.)

8. Type 'MEPP2' (*Note- for Telus, use MEPP4. You will be prompted to enter MEP code)

9. Enter the unlock code (CONFIRM you get "Code Accepted" message)

10. Reboot device

11. Go to 'Manage Connections'

12. Click on 'Restore Connections'

13. Device is now unlocked

There isn't a difference. RIM is the company that makes all "Blackberry" model products. Kind of like Honda makes all the CIVICS no matter which civic you have..

So once you know it's a Blackberry - you already know RIM makes it, you really don't need to say RIM. Usually you say Blackberry and the model (Pearl, Curve, Tour, Storm, etc..) and nowadays they change the model numbers everytime they make a small change..

BEFORE ANYTHING !!!! use the desktop software to backup your data on the BB (if you can) and save the file to the desktop. next go to https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=577BCC914F9E55D5E4E4F82F9F00E7D4 you need to download (use pull down menu) blackberry desktop software 4.6 and the blackberry pearl 8120 smartphone. install the desktop software first then the device software.. this can take maybe an hour (not including the download time)
