What does ER flashing mean

ER just means error, so it could be anything. Disconnecting from the mains for 5 minutes is often a form of reset.

My problem is I have a electric fireplace the insert is a colemen and the heater stoped I bought it a Costco about 4 years ago

It may need repairing, do not take risks trying to fix it without an expert. But its 4 years old so its better to replace it with new.

Classic Flame 39EB500GRS Error Message E3?

I had same problem. Just stopped worked and blinked E3. I used the troubleshooting wizard on ClassicFlame's website. Shut power off (it's hardwired to 220v) for a couple minutes and it started back up. Never did find out what caused the error.

GAS FIREPLACE SOMETIMES TURNS ON AND SOMETIMES NOT. ALSO, IT CAN BE ON AND THEN THE FLAME GOES OUT BUT A FEW MINUTES LATER COMES ON. SUGGESTIONS?

This is a typical situation for a warn Powerpile generator. Your fireplace works by this generator generating heat from your pilot flame and converting it to less than 3/4 of a volt or 750mv. Your gas valve will eat up half of this electricity when running. So when you Powerpile gets warn it might only generate 400mv and when the gas valve turns on will bring it down below 200mv. This will start to drop once the main burner turns on and once below 150mv is no longer able to power the gas valve resulting in the main flame to go out. Minutes later the generator will build its power up again and repeat the cycle. The generator looks a little thicker than a crayon and has a red and white wire coming off it. They are easy to change but the tight spaces on a fireplace can make it very difficult.

Our dimplex electric fireplace model number 28106D3F shut off and won't turn back on

Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the fireplace from the wall receptacle and leave unplugged for 10 - 15 minutes. This will give it time t reset itself. In the future, if you finding you're have to do this more often. Unplug the fireplace, stop using it and call Dimplex USA Technical Service 888-346-7539 for further instructions.

Our coleman fireplace insert starts to warm and then shorts out

Not sure if you have an electric fireplace or a gas fireplace. But, from the way you worded the description of your problem, I'm going to assume that it's electric. I'm also assuming that all the other features of the fireplace work, but the heater doesn' t. If that is the case, below is what the Owners Manual recommends doing.

5. Flame effect operates, but heater does not blow warm air

The TEMPERATURE button is a thermostat control for the heater. Each preset temperature setting has a different thermostat setting as shown to the right:

The heater will NOT activate if the room temperature is above the thermostat setting. If the ambient room temperature is 78° F the user will need to select Setting 3 in order for the heater to be activated. It is normal in warmer climates and in rooms with higher ambient temperatures for the heater to not activate on the lower settings due to the thermostat control. 5a. Try increasing the temperature setting. See drawing:

temp-control-fig.jpg 6. If unit heater does not function, but Power and Heater switches are in the "ON" position and thermostat is set on "HI" 6a. Turn all switches to the "OFF" position and unplug the unit from the wall outlet for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes plug the unit back into the wall outlet, and operate as normal.
