Won't stitch properly

Hello.  I am having trouble with my Singer Quantum XL-1000.  I joke that my machine is snobby, as it only seems to like the expensive type of threads.  With the less-expensive type thread (thread with too much lint), it usually causes it to jam & break the thread).  This is usually my number one problem, and the one which I suspect any time I have trouble with my stitches.
I have cleaned it thoroughly under the throat plate & have been using nice, smooth thread, but am still having a problem with it during various stitches.  The basting stitch seems to be more of a problem than the straight stitch, but none are working consistently well.  My bobbin case seems to make a noisy "clinky" sound and then I notice that the stitches are not correct. During the basting stitch, the top thread is showing up on the bottom of the fabric in a twisted fashion, and when I cut the thread & remove the fabric, there is usually several threads coming out of bottom of the machine (broken ones, and the bobbin thread).  Also, when the stitches are working properly, my tension control does not seem to be doing much...I have puckering fabric when basting, regardless of how much I decrease the tension.
I have tried all my usual tricks...removing lint, lubricating, new needle, bobbin, type of threads, etc.  Plus, I am always careful to thread the machine properly, making sure the thread "pops" into place at all the right points.  Any ideas would be most appreciated!
Thanks so much!

My Singer Quantum XL 1000 is jammed and does not move. The light is on. Please help

Hello,

Try to turn the hand wheel (on the right side of the machine) backwards ( if you are facing the right side of your machine, turn it clockwise) and try to remove the thread. Once its freed up, change the needle.

Hope that helps,
Chris

Singer 301A stitch jam

your machine threads from right to left. the needle flat spot faces left. big loopy things means that the upper part of the machine is not threaded properly. as far as the needle hitting the bobbin case, it sounds as if someone removed the hook (part that holds the case) and put it back on 180 degrees off.
